Am I missing something somewhere? How do I get enough silver to buy blueprints?
And where is the info on how to set up your food requirements to maximize stats for each type of critter.
I like this game, and I like the art, but it's sometimes so tedious that it gets on my nerves. Everything takes too long to do, costs too much or requires massive amounts of stuff. Sure the game has to be flexible to keep things interesting, but things need to be more even when exploring. When using a Lvl 1 pet, one shouldn't be going up against Lvl 10s.

Check the item trades. There are blueprints there that are far more reasonable than the NPC state store. Most of the ones I've purchased so far have been anywhere from 500-1000sp. Being able to complete quests helps your income dramatically.
As far as food goes - look at your pet profile - in the top-left corner there is a Diet section where you can allocate food priorities.
I feel you on the level differences though - I'm not sure how they're calculated or if they're random, but I've had a few islands where I've been vastly outleveled. Instead of fighting as I explore, I usually explore as much as I can without fighting for materials and then choose who I wanna fight.

Despite Angel's saying the contrary, I can't help but feel all my pets are dying to random monsters in Explore way more than they used to. I just ran two perfectly good pets and they were dying to the first or second enemy they fought CONSTANTLY. That's not normal at all. I can't level them if they die as soon as they so much as look at a monster, and I'm not just talking about chest guardians or anything that's supposed to be tougher.

But where is the info on what means what and which does what? Which food type goes with which stat? That's the info I'm looking for. I don't have time to do the trial and error route.

If you mouse over the big (?) next to the word Diet it will tell you what does what. If you want to know more on what the stats effect, it's in the FAQ.

I have a lot of babies laying around because I'm trying to "breed up" better genes, discarding/selling the previous generation if the baby is enough of an improvement. The downside is I go through a ton of vermillion. The geneticist helps but I'll use over 70 a day.
Seeing that though... I wonder how bad this rollover is going to be with 90 pets?

The overall chart is even more impressive... ;D I've never had good experience with mutagening pets - I go the route where I mass breed my better-than-average pets together and hope for the best. So I have a ton of pets with semi-good genes, waiting for mates, just sitting around eating and not mating.
I try to limit myself to 117 pets - I feel like that was back when it was ok.
I have 125 now -_-;;
