"That's a relief. One less thing to worry about for us," she said, "Is the spell permanent, or will it wear off?"

"I believe it is permanent." she said.

Don't give up hope when it seems lost

(My muse is gone for the moment.  I'll find it again.)

Goldenscale smiled as she looked at the eggs.

(it happens to the best of us. Don't worry about it.)

"Beautiful aren't they," she asked looking back down the eggs and smiling, "To think, something as large as us could come from such a small package."

"Yes.  Makes me wonder what my egg looked like." she said with wonder.

"Most of the time, the shell has a similar color to the hatchling's scales. The patter on the shell however is always different, the shell's patter is determined by how health the mother is, The waves form due to disturbances in the imune system," she said turning the eggs over slowly to show a dark ring around the top of each, "If the egg is furtile, there will be a dark ring near the top like these. As the eggs get closer to hatching, the dark ring will grow until it takes over the lighterpart."

"Huh, that's cool." she thought.  'Mine must have been in poor shape because of how I turned out: multicolored eyes, smaller body size than usual, feathered wings.' she thought.  But even then, it was hard to picture her own egg.

"I imagine your  egg must have been quite the sight. Whoever your parents were, they passed some rare genes on to you. Not too many dragons have feathered wings. Besides you, the only person I know who has feathered wings would be Mayumi," she said placing the eggs back how they were, "Can't say I've seen anyone with heterochromia before though. Usually, that only occures in twins very rarely. Kind of funny now that I think about it, when I was in school I never though I'd ever use this information."

(Golsenscale fixed his cave to what it originally was while he was gone I believe.  Can't remember when , but I know she did.)

"What is heterochromia?" she asked, pronouncing the last word slowly.

"Heterochromia is a passive birth defect that causes one to have differently colored eyes like you. The only reason they say it's a defect is because there is no other way to clasify it," she said, "I've still got some of the old text books I used if you want to read through a few. They're mostly on genetics, but they might be worth reading. You could take them if you want. I gave up trying to become a medic to start up the orphanage, and I don't plan on going back."

(I know how that feels.  I'll be gone for a whole day, and I'm in other RPs in other sites, and they will go through about 6 pages before I get back.  Not fun.  But it happens.)

"Wouldn't my different colored eyes be more of a gene mutation than a defect?" she asked.

"I guess it would, but I'm not the one who classified it. I think it's classified as a defect due to there being several ways of getting it. Being a recesive trait, it gets covered up by just about everything else. It's most common in twin, because of how developement cycles could get out of sync and cause the genes for a singe eye to be swapped."
