"It reminds me of the times I used to go out with my old mate in the rain. We would  have the time of our lives before returning home to cook up a nice warm meal," Mayumi said looking into the sky letting the spray from the rain coat her face, "It also reminds of the night Chiei hatched."

"Though you may be saddened by the thoughts of them because they had passed, but think of it as a bringer of good memories.  The best way to make sure that spirits live on is to remember them." she said, going outside in the rain and opening her mouth.  She scattered inside when she heard another boom of thunder.

"The memories don't hurt much since I know their souls are at peace. I just can't help remembering the pain their loss brought. I have a hard time letting thing go," she said still watching the sky, "I guess it's because I remember every detail of what happened to them."

"You should remember them, but not remember their pain.  That was a thing of the past. Of we were meant to remember, we'd remember every prick and poke of pain we got throughout our lives.  And in my case, that would be a lot.  For others, like you, you're fortunate.  That's what makes it harder to let go." she said, sitting next to Mayumi.

"I don't remember things like most  people do. I remember thing by an image in my mind. The memories play back like I'm reliving the moment again.It hurts to see them taken from me again and again," she said laying her head down and closing her eyes as tears formed, "Every time I feel like it's my fault they are gone, like I could have done something to prevent their deaths."

She nuzzled Mayumi.  "Though I am strong, not even I can prevent death.  I've tried, and learned the hard way..." she said looking down.  "But that just shows that they lived a good life here and it was their time to go, just like when an egg hatches or an animal is born, it is their time to live." she said.

"Then why does it feel like they were taken too early,," she asked looking to Goldenscale, her eyes in an almost dead stare as the memories began to play back in her mind.

Frost wakes to their talking and listens.

Goldenscale shrank back, the stare creeping her out.  "I don't know..." she said quietly.

Laying her head back down, Mayumi began to sob as she tried to resist the memories only to fail.

Goldenscale curled up next to her.  A few minutes later, she got up and went to the cave entrance.  There, she began to sing a mourning song for Mayumi's loved ones.  In the rain, the trees began to rustle their leaves in rhythm.

After a while, Mayumi's sobbing stoped as she fell back asleep, tightly curled up hiding her head.

(I'm gonna die of laughter right now...)

Goldenecale finished the song and went to stand in the rain.  She wanted to conquer her fear of thunder.

"There you are. The council is getting a litte concerned about you and Mayumi being gone for so long," Talia said landing near Goldenscale.
