Don't give up hope when it seems lost
I'm a mistake, yet I'm still here
Chase after what you believe
And make every second count.

"The papers are more to keep record of what happened than to organise what goes on. No doubt, you and the rest of the council have been going through the store of records to find things I did that you all didn't agree with," he said, "The morning meetings are more open to the public because the ideas presented will have the whole day to sink in. Most requests and petitions are taken in in the morning meeting, then resolved at the evening meetings. During the first few years of the council, we had four total meetings in one day, but we cut it down to two due to stress. I have a good idea where we can start now. Would you want to start with the council's duties or the history itself?"

"I'm fine with that. History is the foundation the building of the furture is built on," he said, placing the statue back on the mantle. Walking over to a bookshelf, he pull an unlabled book from the top shelf, and handed it to Goldenscale. "That book there is a journal I've been keeping ever since the council formed. It'll explain the detail I may leave out for one reason or another. if you feel the need to ask something, do so," he said sitting back down near the fireplace, "Originally, the council started out as five members assigned to keep resources fairly devided, organise major prodjects like new buildings, and most of all, protect the community from humans. As the years whent on, we recruited more members to help with these tasks and to replace the ones that passed on. Out of those five, I'm the last after fourhundred years."

"Before you came into the council, the public's only way to contact the council was to go to the meetings. Over the years, there have been many that had your job, but none of them stuck with it for more than a few months. The first one, Kria, was the only one to not quit. She and her mate had been taken by spirits, forcing us to kill them. We had made a rule and agreement with the enforcers to never allow such intamacy between council and enforcer members then too prevent such a disaster from happening again. None of us wanted it, but it was the only way we could think to prevent it. I only agreed to it because I had lost my wife and kids to the possessed couple," he said, lowering his head for a moment, "For several years afterwards, it was a struggle to keep the council from falling apart until the decision to apoint me as head came. I was to hold the council together, and serve as the target for everyone's anger and hatred on top of my existing job of resouce manager. Ever since then, the council has held its current form until recently."

"I tried to hold my position because it was all I had left. No family, no friends, nothing but neatly stacked stone and books is left for me," he said as he layed down, his aura growing erratic as he fell apart mentally, "With nothing left, I might as well join my family in rest."

After a few moments of silence, several large stones flew through the windows. Tieral brought his wings up, blocking any rfom hitting Goldenscale, while the rest pelted the elder and the fire place.

Goldenscale roared and bolted out the door. "Who dares harm these people!?" she yelled. "Tieral, you are to stay in there until told, understand." she said.

"Yes, ma'am," he said, walking over to the elder, checking for injury.
Outside, several hatchlings were lined up, shocked to see Goldenscale walk out of the house. The oldest of the group tried to sink into the group, obviously trying to hide.

"He would have deserved it. he's hurt so many people over the years as council leader," the hatchling said, trying to pry herself free, "We didn't mean for you to get hit, we didn't know you were in there."
