Staying just behind Goldenscale, Tieral slowly  caught back up as he drafted behind her. "Not very familiar with aerodynamics are we," he asked playfuly before diving again to get ahead, "We're taught more than just fighting and tracking at the enforcer academy."

"You haven't even seen aerodynamics yet." she said.  She the. Went off of the course and used such complicated weaves, turns and spins that would have taken anyone years of practice.  This also made it easier for herself to become lost and get to the halfway mark.  She then spiraled to the other direction and launched herself off of a tree like a rocket.

"You're pretty good. Looks like the academy will have to step up its game if they want to stay ahead,"he said as he climb high above Goldenscale then dropping and pulling his wings close sending him rocketing towards finish as he spun, "This is going to be close."

With a roar, she flapped her wings and flew even faster towards the finish line.

"You give me more reasons to love you every day," he said as he opened his wing and brought himself just under Goldenscale, Doing his best to keep pace with her, "Who is that at the finish line?"

At the finish line, a large red dragon with purple edged featherd wings, stood watching as Goldenscale and Tieral aproached.

She spiraled out of the way of the dragon, crashing into a tree.  She got back up and went over to the dragon.  "Who are you!?" she yelled.  She had a couple of cuts running along her cheek, but she didn't care.

Tieral closed his wings once again and aimed himself towards the nearby lake, where he landed.

On closer inspection, the dragon had the same frame and features as Mayumi. "You didn't have to change your course," she said walking over to Goldenscale, making no noise despite stepping on dried leaves and twigs, "You can call me Mi'Vier. Mayumi would call me mother." Passing a claw over Goldenscale's cuts, the wounds closed and disappeared without a trace.

Goldenscale was surprised.  She hadn't seen anyone else besides herself heal with magic.  "Why are you here, Mi'Vier?" she asked, quietly, fearful of the reasons she would be here.

"Can a spirit bound to this plane of existence not visit her family," she asked with a smile, "Laast time I visited Mayumi, it was twenty five years ago. While it does sadden me that Chiei never got a fair chance at life, I'm happy to call you granddaughter, even if you're adopted."

"I'm sorry.  I've had to many encounters with evil spirits, and then with spirits in general to keep enough sanity.  I just don't like creatures appearing out of nowhere like you did..." she said.  "It puts me a protective state." 

"I understand. I tried to get you attention ealier, but you and that guardian boy of yours kind of took off before I could say anything," she said, "Since I overheard you saying something about a race, i decided to just stay here and wait for you. I've got to say though, you two are the fastest I've seen since before my mate Tel'Manier passed. He had to use alchemical strengtheners to achieve the speeds he did, but that doesn't change the fact he got that fast."

"I trained my body for years to be faster than any Gryphon, Unicorn, Roc, Puma, and Cockatrice.  Took practice, but now, that has helped save several lives." she said proudly.

"So I've heard from the spirits of the forest. I've been watching you for some time now. When I first found you, you were so young, but so in tune with the world around you," she said pulling what looked like a very weathered crystal and holding it beside the white crystal Mayumi made, "Mayumi really does place all her being in protecting you. That crystal has her soul bound to it so she could always be at your side."

"Really?" she asked in awe.  "I thought it was just an ordinary crystal.  Of course she told me it was the purest form of life, but not that..."

"Flarion dragons are much more tied to their life force than any other dragon. This tie gives us a host of abilities that pulles directly from this force. You've seen and used one such ability. That's just the most basic one, the others require years of training and discipline to even use. While Mayumi can use them, she is far from mastering them," she said as her body lit up with a faint white fire, "When we make a crystal out of this fire, we are creating a physical link to our very soul. Without treatment, these crystals are very volatile due to their nature of existance. Treating them renders them harmless, but it also binds part of the soul that made it."
