Amberfly, the reason why it wasn't accepted is that it's identifiable as peacock only from it's name. To get the resemblance with real animal for natural colorations, please try to use high-quality references, for example like this:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Paonroue.JPG

I didn't mean it to look exactly like a peacock, more inspired by one. But there's nothing wrong with the coloring itself? Could I re-submit it with a different name and have it accepted?

Shadow, the rule about solid colors is important only for skins which are meant to have the realistic-style shadows and lights (particulary for the official bases). Solid colors for fully custom skins are ok when they mean artistic style instead of inappropriate work with color.

Amberfly, yes, the only issue is the name. I'll gladly approve this skin with another name :)

Is it okay to do a skin based on a character?

For example, in the comic "What's Michael?" there is a catnip addicted cat called Jiro. Would it be OK to do a skin of a puma hogging a jar of catnip?

Applemint, it's ok if the puma on the artwork will be easily associated with just an ordinary cat or puma with a catnip and only after this with the character. I checked Google for Jiro, he seems to be an ordinary ginger tabby, and the catnip is quite an ordinary item associated with cats too. The only thing which you can't do in this case is copying the character itself (I mean proportions, art style and exact pattern - everything that makes him recognizable as Jiro among all other drawn ginger cats). Ginger cats with catnips in general are totally ok :)

Is there any way to know where our skins are used, and who?
If not that would be a neat feature :3

How okay are you with vertically oriented pictures? I mean, as long as the height is 350 px, is it okay? I only ask because practically everything I've seen on this site is horizontally oriented.

p.s.- on a completely unrelated note, I was thinking about drawing a Bone Dragon. Like, as in, a skeleton of a dragon that's been re-animated by... I dunno, magic or something. Is that possible?

Noctra, there's no such feature right now.

MagicDragon, your skin is a combination of 2 official skins. It won't be approved.

Skyeacreon, any orientation within 350px is good. Actually our Roc is vertically oriented too :) And I don't see any problems with Bone Dragon. We have Magicians and Sorcerers here, so why not?

Awesome~!

Hey...So, a "dragon" just needs to be lizardish, have a single tail and head, four legs, and wings, yeah? To fit this site's definition of "dragon"? ......What if I did this

It's a Dragonfly

i'm sorry

Wow, are you serious? Is this just a beta thing, or permanant? *_* Brace yourself. I might go a little nuts ahaha

Permanent of course. What's the sense in limiting amount of uploaded skins? Skins can have tags so the users can find the skins with colors or theme which they like easily even if there will be a lot of these skins.
