It's not a bad start. :)
Also got this one that has no acute but double salt if Monues or Marans want it.

Salty Pretty Girl is a male....and super good start.

Take that you pesky animal instinct! Homoz acute! Haha! Even skipped the father's poor hearing. See that marans? Two recessives made homozygous ;P

Oops. Renamed. This is what I get for going over things too fast.

Who my symurgh? Yeah I was typing the name on tablet and it let me type more characters than bk allowed, so when I hit name it took off a chunk of the name. Just says both now instead of acute salt.

But... it doesn't matter what the gene power was? 50% chance of being inherited regardless, and you got lucky and both sides gave Acute... uh, I'm confused what the argument/point is here lol.
Anyway, how are you two breeding so fast already?! I don't wanna be a slacker. x) Sent a breed request.
Alas, I've run out of vermillion so these daily dozens of gryph babs will have to keep piling up in the corner. At least one today was perfect-minus-one, so yay.

You mentioned something along the lines of recessives not being all that important
Sounds like you'll need to do some exploring

Huh. My bad then, must have been crappy phrasing. I meant the unwanted genes, like Deaf vs Instinct, and couldn't understand why you preferred certain ones.
... man, if BK is so difficult with 20 genes, I fear my 160+ genes might explode some heads :D but let's not derail the thread again. Yep, it's explore time. *sigh*

Oooooooh! Yeah I can sometimes read things twice and still misunderstand >.<
Instinct is the most powerful underwatned Gene with 90, but deaf and poor hearing have 80 or someting around there. So if it were a choice breeding with a deaf mate is better than an instinct one..easier to weed the gene out in the future.
Edit: 160 genes huh....like feather length, feather composition, pupil size, crazy little tings like that?

"easier to weed the gene out in the future" ahh but that's what confused me lol. If one parent has Acute and Something, and the other has Acute and SomethingElse, it's always the same 25% chance both the unwanted ones will be skipped... that's why we keep spamming breedings til we get lucky, right? x) How can it be easier to lose certain genes?
Nah, just colours of body parts so far (no markings yet; that will be another layer of suffering). A typical bird has: body, beak/legs, cere/wattles/comb, eyes, claws, ventral coverts and flights, dorsal coverts and flights. Then there's horns and armour, magic element, colour-shifting mutations etc... won't go into more detail yet. Spoilers. :P

If acute is unavailable the smaller the gap between the two genes's power number the easier it is to replace it later when acute is available. 90 genes will always be dominant in the offspring unless extremely lucky, it's nearly guarenteed. Like agile paws, it only takes one breeding to establish it in the line forever. Or as with my other symurghs, animal instinct.
It takes more generations, unrelated pairs, and luck to breed out a gene with 90 power vs 80 power, that small ten can make a lot of difference.

... hm... OK, thanks for all the explaining, but I have to put my hands up and admit I still don't get it. Maybe I'm just an enormous dimwit haha.
As long as Acute is there, either dom or recessive, it can be passed on. It could have 10 power and the other gene 500 power, but the 50% chance is the same. Then if the offspring gets Acute from both parents, power no longer matters since it'll be homozygous. And we're breeding for total homoz perfection, right? (or is your goal merely to have all the best genes dominant, not necessarily homoz? In that case, l can totally see your point)
Can't say I've ever noticed the slightest difference regarding gene powers, when breeding gryphs.
Oh, and this is a bit unrelated, but how good is Gracefulness for them? I noticed some of yours have it. Never really thought it worthwhile before. Does it make much difference in battles?
Posted at 2018-05-14 18:20:43 — Link
Hmmm, Gracefulness gives good dodge chance, but I can't remember the percentage.
I like steel muscles, but gracefulness is apparently better, so who am I to go against the crowd?
I'm busy aiming for more double devs. I'm trying to get a lavender roc double dev, and a white bicolor.
In terms of gryphs, I'm trying to get a black bicolour double dev too :)
0w0 deviants are sooo shiny :))

Can't remember the chance either. But Gracefulness + Second Breath... lots of dodging and extra attacks, sounds nice. Which then begs the other question: keep powering up Berserker in those extra turns, or take advantage of Counterstrike when dodging? hnnngg
They are. Especially the glittery-looking ones *_*
Hehe, that's my fave gryph dev too. We could compete to see who gets there first? :)
