I agree. Some of the exchanges were ridiculous.

And, on the other end, are those who have the event materials and try to trade those in turn for items far more than they're worth. Everyone wants to come out on the higher end of the trade; it's just more noticeable for players who only have low-value items such as recipes and materials.
The economy during events is pretty bizarre. A number of users made a killing by selling event items at high prices (top item seller this week made over 3 million silver), while other users are literally giving things away. I expect there are even a few users who completed this event largely on other people's generosity.

Well, overcharging is more reasonable than offering scraps for in-demand, valued items. While I know it isn't fun having to pay those sorts of prices, well, you don't have to. Of course everyone wants to get the Kamis but it doesn't effect your gameplay to not have them. People devote time to exploring in order to have the extras to trade/sale, time they didn't have to spend on it and time people buying the items are spared.
For the Etelias, for example, I've personally had no problem with setting trades for 2-4 ice this winter for 1 Month Premium Subscriptions. Those trades have normally been taken. If people don't want to do the work then they should have to make it worth the supplier's time. It's unfortunate when the reason people can't finish events is due to real life problems but in cases like that we do have a rather generous community that helps out.

Loved this event :D
Can't wait for the next one now!

I wish that events like these involved something besides grinding through explores for two hours every day. There's no skill in that. I'm clicking the same buttons, toggling the same arrows, over and over. I'm not solving a puzzle or crafting a strategy. I'm moving, and clicking, and moving.
I hate to be the party pooper. But at that point I'm not having fun anymore. It's just work.
Maybe that's just me, I don't know.

mosaic, but usually events do include a lot of other tasks except grinding, and users complain that they are too hard. This was an easy event, probably targeted towards newbies just like event for Amor last year. I played only for two days to find everything, and it wasn't hard. Yes, I spent about 3 hours of my time exploring but that's all. I suppose there would be a lot more complaints if we had to do regular tasks like complex breeding and battlefield. I think this was just an easy explore type event to let most of the players get at least one Kami in their stables.

I think the "high-level content" here lies in the challenge of trying to complete multiple events at once; regularly defeating etelias, while at the same time exploring and crafting to attract Dita.

I found it nice to have two events at once. I didn't stress about the Musk Oil given that I was already in the Tundra looking for Ice.
These events bring out the best and worst (unfair trades) in people. But generally people are super giving. I've survived and completed every event on BK. Some of them would not have been possible without friends. The events force us to collaborate and make new friends too. I am more than happy to give away items, or trade them for things I am looking for here and there (like vermillion). But in the end I rather pass the items off to someone who will use them rather than have them rot in my inventory. I feel like a lot of the more active and serious users are of ths ame nature. A lot of the "crazy trades" are made by newer players, or ones that aren't on much, so they don't have much game exposure. I just shake my head and move on- no one is forcing to make their trade. I'll find another one or post in the forums.
This event was made so that most people can participate. It took me less than 3 days of "HELP FRIENDS" and crazy amounts of explores. That being said, if I had spread that out over time then I still could have made it. I used lots of energy flow cards.. but I think if you aren'y paranoid about your time like I am, then it is still possible as a new user.
I let people use my pets for exploring a lot. Higher levels are nice, yes... but not necessary. It does make it super easy. As does clearing the fog of war.... Not impossible. Certainly not "easy" but that is the point. It's a challenge. A challenge for all players, but not unobtainable. Part of Beta testing, and this site moving into version 2 at some point means that game balances will be tested. Grind vs payoff and the amounf ot "fun" that is to be had. It is carefully taken into account by Angel. Yes there are tweaks to be made, and they usually are. It does take a lot to find that fine balance between game mechanics. So I do applaud you Angel for doing so.

I gave my Dita to someone else because they tried really hard but just dan out of time. I wasn't going to use her for much anyway. Now that I have her she will probably just sit there or hang out in the Battlefield.,.

I don't like to be the party pooper either but I really need to say this: I've played many adoptables games before and participated in many of their events... and I usually try to finish the events on my own, without other users' help. But if you need to play for 3 hours a day during an event in order to finish it, then it seems like the game is asking for you to have no life. So every time something like this happens on a game I play, I quit playing. Because if I'm not having fun or if I'm playing out of obligation, what's the point of playing at all? This is something I take very seriously when deciding to continue playing a game or not. I've played BeastKeeper for some months now and I see a pattern in some events. I had fun too, otherwise I wouldn't have joined the website in the first place, but that's it. Of course this is my opinion... and excuse me if I sound rude.

shadielle, it took me 3 hours overall to finish it on my own, not 3 hours a day. So it's 3 hours per week. Or ~25 minutes per day. It's less than any other game of this type requires for success, and I play a lot of them (currently there are 5 other pet sites where I'm active).

@birdlove You may have been quite lucky, or I may have been unlucky - not sure. For this event, I spent at least 3 hours each day I was able to (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday). Between work and weekend travel that was the majority of my free time. Even doing that, I wouldn't have finished without Random boxes (which I purchased 12 of).
I could have asked other players for help. And I appreciate the cooperative spirit this sort of challenge engenders. But it's not really cooperative, is it? It's asking richer players or people with more free time to do the event work for me. It's charity. It's me asking for free stuff. And it doesn't sit well with me that this is a built in feature of the game. I've been around for two years. I shouldn't have to resort to begging.
Arranging public breeding is a cooperative feature. Begging for pearls is not. Beating an etelia is a neat challenge. Grinding through explore all evening is a punishment.

Hmm, this is the most discussion we've ever had post-event. Perhaps the drop rate was lower than most? I couldn't say; I've only taken part in two Kami events prior to this. But I suppose for those who were still scrambling last minute to get their Etelia and those who were otherwise busy this past week (which seemed to be a lot of people), it must have been difficult to achieve.
I finished with plenty of time to spare, having invested about 5 to 6 hours in total, and trading for only a few of the items I needed. In all, I think it's been just as fair as any other event we've had. Almost every game involves some grind; Beastkeeper is no different in that respect.
