thanks for the reply iv seen and know those i can work out for example colour blaks rarest in unis or lakes rarest in theos but say for example black blanket appaloosa ..its that sort i cant get my head around working out i think its just me thats dopy lol but again thanks anyway )

SweetAnilla- They are a food item housed under Animal Proteins in your inventory. They will automaticcally be fed to your pet at the start of a new day. See the FAQ for more info on how food works ^^

Whats a rainbow jar..? I NEED 1!! 

A Rainbow Jar allows you to put a user made skin (http://beastkeeper.com/color-list/5) on your own pet (of the same species of course!). 

Rainbow jars can be purchased in the Premium shop, bought for 5k in magic shops, or found in trasure chest drops. 

They are intended to be rare'ish' so they can take awhile to find/purchase. For more info on how to get gold coins, use rainbow jars, or make skins please check out the FAQ.

What's a premium account? Apparently I have one...

When you first sign up for Beastkeeper you get a free 2 week Premium-subscription, to see what it's all about and if you like it. If you wish to continue having it after this trial period has ended, you will need to spend some gold coins on it or buy the item 1 Month Premium Subscription from other players through Item Exchange or Auction House. 

What's included is in the FAQ under Premium Membership and Gold Coins Questions:

• Premium users can set Triggers.
• Premium users see maneuvers that are currently selected by your opponents at the Battlefield.
• Premium users get Inbreeding Warning when trying to breed pets that are close relatives.
• Normal users can perform searches only among pets which are being traded. Premium users can search among all pets. This can be useful if you're looking for a pet with special traits and want to buy it from another Keeper who didn't put this pet up for trade.
• Normal users only see a pet's mother and father. Premium users have access to full genealogy.
• Premium users can instantly leave the island from any point of the map. Normal users need to move to the portal tile frst.

How to get gold coins is also covered in the FAQ. I would suggest reading the entirety of it anyway, as there are many important informations in there :)

I recently bred this gryphon: http://beastkeeper.com/pet/280112

It says his color is Barn Owl. But the art looks nothing like the Barn Owl skin. Looking at the hatchling art I'd say his color is Pied (which makes since based on his parents' color genes).

I haven't seen the Barn Owl hatchling art, though, so I don't know if this is what that hatchling looks like, or if this is a glitch.

The babies do not show their final color until grow, so don't worry. In 2 days he will have the right coloration

To be more precise, baby coloration is dependant on the color genes only; pattern genes don't take effect until the pet is full grown.
