Nothing really. While a female is pregnant, she won't be able to do anything (wouldn't want to harm her or the baby, now would you? ;))
And what you can do to speed up the process? Well, there is an item in the Premium Store called Founder Cells Culture, it costs 15 gold coins and makes a female give birth instantly. Other than that? Not much I'm afraid.

Sorry, i'm really new to the game and i've never played a game like this before, so please excuse my silly questions!
1. How to you achieve a higher pedigree in an animal?
2. What is vermillion used for?
3.How do i put skins onto my animals?
Thank You So Much!

Leila- The FAQ has most of your answers: http://beastkeeper.com/faq
1- A higher pedigree... You mean Genetic Power (GP?)- There is much more detailed information on the FAQ under "Genetic and Breeding Question". Baisically you need to level up your petsto their max (50) and breed them together to result in a GP offspring. GP gives +10 to each stat. For more info and how to breed GP see the FAQ ^^
2- Vermillion is used to research genes. You can find it exploring. To use it go to your pet's page and click their genetics tab. You will see the option to reveal all their genes, or a randome gene (having a genetisit in your inn will allow you to select which genes to research). This also costs a bit of silver as well. The Lab on the explore islands will reveal one gene for free as well.
3- Custom skins are also in the FAQ down at the bottom. You will need to have a Rainbow Jar which will allow you to apply a custom skin (either of your own approved design, or one that a user has created. You can also ask users to make some for you- but expect to pay them for their time of course!)
I hope that helped! If you have anything else let me know!

Hi, I've been reading a bit but still don't understand exactly what schemes and golems are, if they're one time use items, what they're needed for, how we obtain them, etc.
Posted at 2014-02-26 14:32:34 — Link
You use any scheme once and it will show up in your craft & construction menu (top menu -> Manor). From there you can build the scheme's contents with resources you get on islands (remember, I answered this in another topic of yours, you click on Explore and then the portal to reach islands where you gather resources with your active pet).
Most of the items from schemes are used to craft other things, like buildings. Go to Help -> LIst of Recipes to see which building needs what.
Golems are a special kind of Scheme. You craft a golem to double your resources. Say you have a Clay Golem scheme. You use it, find it in your Craft & Construction and build it. This uses 50 Clay. Over the course of the next 10 days, the Clay Golem will give you 10 Clay each for a total of 100 Clay (doubling the original 50 Clay you used to make it). After this it collapses, but the scheme is still in your Craft & Construction menu (while the golem is active this scheme is invisible, but it is there again once the golem collapsed), so you can simply recraft it for another 50 Clay and so on. This is a great way to get more resources (for buildings etc) if you don't need them in a hurry.
Oh yes, how to obtain them. You can find them while exploring islands or you can trade for or buy them from other players in the Item Trades or the Item Exchange.

This may have already been asked, but can you change your avatar?
I tried to upload a new one today (I'm rather bored with this one now) and it wouldn't change it or tell me why it wouldn't :/

What exactly does a friends/foe list do here? I know what it does on another site (lets me see when friends are on & hides forum posts from foes). Does it work the same way here?
I collect wild and first generation (has parents with wild parents) unicorns. Take a look in my first generation tab to see what I mean. I'm aiming to collect one of each color available with decent stats.

Yes Lokison you can change your avatar. I believe it needs to be the correct size however, I can't seem to find the dimensions or file size. Make sure your image is also saved as a .png. I could find out more if you would like.
@Pegasi1978: The friends/foe list is essentially a way to organize your interactions on the site. One thing I love about this is you can add comments. For instance I have friends that I allow free breeding to and I make note of this on here. Or I give the names of my RL friends as notes next to their username for me. At this point we do not have those features, though these could be quite interesting! :)

hmm i dunno if this is asked or even a question but... let's say i have a pet that has no genes that are bad and degeneration will it only get the red stats and no bad genes? ( i've actually done this X3 so i just gotta know )
Posted at 2014-03-16 11:00:07 — Link
Degeneration in itself doesn't do anything. Only when a pet with increeding is born, there is a chance that it will have mutations - not in the sense of additional heads or something, but meaning that it might get genes that the parents didn't have.
If I remember this correctly, the game checks each set of genes (Senses, Paws, Skin, etc) and depending on the grade of inbreeding applies a specific chance that one gene in that set might get changed to something else.
The stats aren't affected at all, as always they only turn red if the pet has a bad gene for that stat.
This means if you have a Degen 1 baby, chances are it might not be any different from any other baby without Degeneration.

I can't adopt a pet from the pound, is this because there's Once-per-day limit? Because I just recently started this game and had to adopt a pet as part of the turtorial, so I was a little bummed out when I couldn't adopt another pet.
