"Huh... Oh.  Just trying to forget something..." she said.  Her frozen body crawled out of the snow bank and she shook the remaining snow from her.  "Thank you for waking me up." she said with a smile.  Her body shivered slightly.  She then walked back inside.

"You mind doing me a quick favor? Could you check on Mayumi," the laeder asked walking inside with Goldenscale, "She didn't seem like herself this morning."

"I'll go do that." she said with a smile.  She limped to Mayumi's cave and walked inside.  When she noticed her holding a doll with a look of sorrow on Herr face, she walked over. "Are you okay, Mayumi?" she asked, sitting down.

"What's the point of life when you have nothing to live for," Mayumi asked looking up to Goldenscale, tears still roling down her face.

Goldenscale nudged her gently, then looked at her.  "You just... need to find something to live for..." she said quietly.  It worked for her but she didn't know if it would work for Mayumi as well.  She whimpered quietly.

"I don't know if there is anything left for me to concider. I lost everything when I lost Chiei. I'm only a tool and punching bag for the Council here," Mayumi said looking back down to the wood figure, "What is there left for me?"

"I don't know..." she said quietly.  she sat back, unable to help Mayumi.  She frowned sadly.

"I wonder what they did with my charm," Mayumi said starting to lean on the counter, "KNowing them, they destroyed it after I blacked out."

Goldenscale then remembered she had put it in her feathers to keep it safe.  She then went looking for it until she found it.  She took it out og her wing and handed it to Mayumi. "They gave it to me after you blacked out.  They told me to do whatever I wanted with it, but I have no need for objects like this..." she said.  She held it out for Mayumi.

"Thank you. You have no idea how much this thing helps me," Mayumi sai dputting the charm back on, her mood seeming to almost instantly lighten up, "The human elders who buried Chiei gave this to me before I ran. The enchantment on it reduces the effects of depression. It doesn't get rid of it, but it helps enough to give me peace."

"I think it's a luxury to have such an item 'cause I didn't think such an item existed...  But to you, it's probably a nessecity." she said quietly.  She wished she had such an item for back when she first hatched, it would have helped her so much.  But now she was always happy.  "I'm glad your charm still works.  I'm going to go to the initiation-thingamabob they mentioned yesterday." she said.  "When is this 7:00 AM?" she asked.

"It's only about 5:00 right now. You have about two hours before the thing even begins," Mayumi said standing up and looking out a window before placing the figure back under the couner, "You've seen what I'm like without the charm. Without it, I know for sure, that I wouldn't be here."

"Thanks, I only know times as sunrise, morning, mid-day, afternoon, sundown, moon-rise, and mid-night.  Other than that, I don't know times..." she said.  She was still thinking about how Mayumi was without her charm.  It reminded her alot about how she acted those couple of years or so after hatching.  Back then, she wouldn't do anything and if she did, it was to move to find a new home.  She basically never ate or drank except maybe once a week or even longer.  Now she wondered how she even got through those times.  Once again she got up and went outside.  Just thinking about not eating made her hungry.  She found some small bits of plant outside and began eating what she could.  She knew she looked odd eating vegetation, but it tasted fine to her.

"Moning Miss Goldenscale," an elder said seeing GOldenscale outside, "How's Mayumi doing? She took quite the beating lst night. I was just coming in to check on her and drop off some medical supplies."

Goldenscale finished chewing a flower she found and sat up.  "She's doing much better now.  I gave her her charm back, so everything's all good." she said with a smile.
