"The apocalypse is among us...  There is nothing to keep her from trying.  This will not end well." he said with wide eyes.  

(He said he was dropping out in a message he sent me early this morning.)

"Everyone's been going on about her connection to the forest. Do you think it might be able to help," he asked, slowly looking up, "A bond works both ways."

"Eat breakfast first, you need all the energy you can get. Once you';re done eating, we need to check on Mayumi and Frost," Tieral said, setting the plate of pastries in front of Goldenscale, "Something isn't right, and I have a bad feeling it has something to do with them."

"H-h-he's gone," Mayumi said between breaths as she held Frost's limp head against her neck, crying, "Why did he have to go? He didn't even get to see his own children hatch."

"No, no, nono.  Nononono.  Nononononono!" she yelled in disbelief.  She then limped over and began to nudge him.  "Come on, daddy.  You have to get up.  Come on, get up." she said.  When he didn't, she nudged him harder, tears streaming.  "Wake up!" she yelled.  "You can't die now!" she said.  She began to wail as she continued to try to get her father up, even though she knew he wouldn't.

Mayumi closed her eyes as Goldenscale tried to wake Frost, holding his head tighter against her neck. "I..... I already tried that. He's gone, taken from me just like Kor was," she whispered to herself as she wrapped her wings around herself, "Why must  the world torture us like this?"

"No!  Daddy can't be gone!" she yelled, still trying.  He couldn't be gone.  The first dragon to ever show her a kindness she didn't know existed, the man that had taught her to speak, gave her a home, took her in and treated her like she was his child.  Why did she have to loose everyone close to her?  She had only known him for a couple of weeks, yet she had grown to love him immensely.  How could she possibly go on now?

Gently setting Frost's head down, Mayumi walked back over to her nest. Laying down, the color of her scales and feathers began to fade until they were almost grey. "What's the use, why should I even continue to try to live? Everything is always taken from me anyways," she said to herself, "I might aswell give the eggs to the orphanage, and end it all."

Goldenscale began to cry as she sat on her behind and curled her wings around her. Now she was going to loose both her parents. Why was she always the one left alone in the end? Why, why, why?

"Goldenscale, other than yourself, is there anyone for me to live for," she asked, looking to Goldenscale, the normal glow from her eyes seeming almost nonexistant.

"I will not leave you. A mother always sticks with her child, no matter the circumstances. It's times like this that I need to be reminded this," she said, "I will always be with you if you can always be there for me."
