Wondering if this is alright:

Obviously a (messy)sketch, but I wanted to ask before getting too far.

Also, I have a few questions regarding symurghs:

Would bat wings be alright? I wanna say no because they're supposed to be part avian, but I wanted to ask.

Could we do dog tails instead of bird tails?

Would different kinds of canine ears be alright? Like floppy ears?

Do the back legs have to be avian? Could we make it the front?

Sif, this one is completely okay!

Yes, Symurghs are supposed to be half-bird / half-canine creatures, so it would be better to use bird-like wings.

Dog tails, other types of ears and all other minor modifications are alright. Swapping front and hind legs are be okay too as for me because it still stays a recognizable half-avian with the same number of limbs :)

"Image mustn't be a fan-art. You can't use recognizable characters (for example, "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic", "Lion King", "Spirit: Stallion of Cimarron" etc.)"

Would it be alright for me to do a set of norse characters so long as I base the design on the gods from the norse myths and not the marvel characters?

There are pretty big differences, like in true norse mythology Thor wears green and gold.

Lady_Sif, mythic and legendary characters are totally ok until it's your personal interpretantion or its based on the folklore art, just like you mentioned abobe. Folklore isn't a subject of copyright.

I'm afraid I am not much  help with GIMP. I never much liked the program's interface. I reccommend a more powerful program if your computer can handle it. Photoshop would be the best since the images are saved for that format (with layers). But alternatives like Paint.net are good too...

Check out links here: http://beastkeeper.com/thread/4107

I also suggest looking on Deviantart to see if they have any GIMP tutorials should you choose to stay with that.

The tutorial that Angel made uses the .PNG base (flat image) so perhaps you can find similar tools in GIMP as are illustrated here...

Sorry I could not help more.

I was wondering could something like this be approved? It's not finished ofcourse.

Also...  How much armor/clothes can we put on other species? Maybe as much as we want as long as it's obvious what is beneath the armor??

Fireshock10001, it's totally fine as long as the final image will have no technical flaws (like non-transparent background and other transparency problems, pixelization, jagged contours, untidy / stray strokes etc.). You're right, we allow any kind of clothes, armor and decorations on pet as long as it stays recognizable.

I have a question, if you have a custom skin and you make it public with some type of gold or silver fee and you decide (as the creator) to dye your pet that custom skin, would you be charged your own fee? I don't know if this was covered or not so I wanted to make sure since I haven't had a chance to come across the rainbow potion yet so I'm not familiar with the dying system.

Hi c: I was wondering, what programs do you use to edit the bases? I tried Paint.Net, Sketchbook Express, Artrage and Gimp 2 and none of them work for editing them. most of them wont open the image, and the rest fuse all layers and I can't edit them properly. Any help is greatly appreciated!

I really want to make a private Symurgh skin that looks like my old dog who recently passed away. I was planning on making the skin and then buying gold coins to get the rainbow jar I need to dye my pet.

@Yehet

The files are in psd. form so any of the photoshops can work as well as Paint Tool Sai. I also noticed that there's a PSD extension/add-on/plug-in for Paint.Net with details on other programs here

Before I submit these, I was wondering if someone could look them over and let me know if they'd be approved or if they need changes? I'm still tweaking them too, so the finished version will be slightly different, but not very.

Nikat, both skins are perfect from the tech side and will be approved if you submit them.

Would this be ok to use? It's an old base that's been sitting around on my computer
