Chase grinned and stood up. He went up the stairs to his dorm and opened the door silently. He slipped in and went to bed.

Rory woke up early the next day, probably beacause Dopey had decided to take up tap-dancing on her facE.
"Get of you strange little ball of fluff."
Dopey squeaked indignantly and jumped off and onto the floor.
"Ok, sorry, good morning your fluffiness."
and Rory was still grinning as she walked down in her muggle clothes, ready to greet the school free day.

Chase sat in one of the armchairs. He was looking out the window at all the snow. It'd snowed heaps lastnight and the grounds looked waist-deep full of snow.

Rory wrapped a scarf around her neck and tip toed over to where Chase was sitting in an armchair. She covered his eyes with her hands and said in a mock deep voice,

Rory bounded though the portrait hole, just in time to see Chase tumbling down the stairS. She laughed and ran to help him up.
"oh my gosh Chase, are you ok?" She said in between giggles.
then she saw another boy with greasy blonde hair and a permanent scowel.
"Draco."
he looked like he wanted to bite some ones head off, but instead he stood up, and trned around.
"my father will hear about this."

Chase fumed and turned around to go back to the commonroom. Draco spoke again." And I will get you back for that. You Mudblood." Chase spun around and took out his wand, but Draco was quicker. He spat a curse that made Chase's blood run cold before it'd even hit him.

Rory gasped as a flash of blue light hit her best friend.
"Chase!!"
Deep cuts covered Chase, ripping through his sleeves. He screamed and Draco grinned.
"You idiot!!" Rory punched Draco down the rest of the stairs and kneeled by Chase. Blood covered the floor and he looked deathly pale.

Rory was freaked out even before Chase stopped moving.
"No. No, no, no!" Rory signalled to Madam Pomfrey, with shaking hands, and as soon as she got there, she went straight to work. Chase soon looked more or less like Chase, but still as pale as a vampire.
"Rory," she said as she conjured a stretcher, "don't worry, he'll be fine, just go back to your common room."
Rory found she couldn't move. She just stared as Madam Pomfrey took Chas to the Hospital Wing.
