This is a thread where I will (try to) post a writing challenge everyday (During the holidays I'll post less). You don't need to participate, but if you do, feel free to post you writing here. It's not a contest, so I won't be giving prizes, but I will compliment, and try to give constructive criticism.

3. No "lol dis sux. XD", that is not constructive criticism

Challenge 1 (made in Christmas spirit)-

Write a short story about you, and your beastkeeper pets spending Christmas together. If you don't celebrate Christmas, write about them celebrating Hanukkah, Kwanza, or whatever it is you celebrate at this time of the year.

I have brown hair and I wear glasses. I have brown eyes. I LOVE Harry Potter. I read a lot. My regular unicorns would spend Christmas together by having races and sleeping together as one big, happy family. My deviants would spend time together by showing off their beautiful coats. My pumas would spend time together grooming each other. My cockatrices would roam around and have play fights with each other.

Nice story! You might want to add a bit more detail though. ^.^

    I woke up to Mistfang flopping down on my legs and purring, a sound that shook the little bed and maybe even the small log cabin that we were in. "Hey," I protested, "You're way to heavy for this!" The lanky deviant Puma looked at me with one eye and then hopped off the bed. I watched curiously as she went over the the advent calendar and nosed it. "Oh! YAY!!! It's christmas eve!" Mistfang purred again and this time I didn't care that the cabin shuddered. "Good puma! Good girl!" I scratched her behind the ears and her purrs increased in volume. I stopped petting her so the cabin didn't fall down and I trotted outside to alert the other beasts, Mistfang at my heels.

    I grabbed some fresh Fir sprigs from the Christmas tree and tossed them into each group of pets, all of whom started purring/howling/stomping to show their happiness. I found that I had tons more pets than last year, this was going to take a while. Mistfang tugged on the Christmas tree and then, when that didn't work, she cut off a few sprigs with her claws. "What are you doing?" I asked her, then I added, "Don't destroy the tree!" Mistfang cut a few more pieces and then started putting them in the groups I hadn't done yet, "Never doubt the cat!" I said to myself and watched as Mistfang's head raised proudly.

    Then, was my favorite part of the holiday. All the pets were allowed to mingle with other groups! The pets loved this too. They'd decorate each other's habitats and, I had made sure that each group had a Christmas tree, they would leave presents under the trees for each other. Mistfang was sought after because she knew me best and probably knew what I wanted for Christmas. I knew there was a few jealous pets, Mistfang had a high status and they thought it was unfair. I relied on Ailish, Bluemist, and Flamestrike to tell me who these pets were.

    After every pet had delivered their presents and my spies had found out the jealous ones, I held a game meeting. The jealous pets got to be in charge, I told them I picked them for their leadership skills which made them happy. And then, after everyone had picked a game and figured out who was going first, I yelled, "And let the 2nd Christmas Games begin!" There was track racing, tree climbing, flying races, aerial stunts, beauty contests, fire breathing, and even an eating contest. In the end, I went to each pet who was in charge of a game and they told me their winners. I held another meeting and pronounced the winners of the year -

    Each received a Fir wreath threaded with sparkling red gems and they found themselves with a sudden onslaught of presents from other pets, congratulating them. Luckily no one was jealous, this time. Slowly pets started migrating back to their groups after everyone had dispersed, Mistfang and I headed back to the cabin. As Mistfang started curling up in her mattress on the floor there was a knock on the door. We looked outside to see the symurgh Christmas Carolers. They were even better then last time! I yelled one last, "Merry Christmas!" to them as they trotted toward the next group of pets. I settled down in my bed and slowly fell asleep, and dreamed about the joys of Christmas day.

Cool, I like the details, and the slight, but not major conflict. I don't really have any criticism for improving, but keep writing, and challenge yourself.

This is a story about me and my squad unicorns spending the holidays together.

It was just a normal winter day, and I was on the computer. Suddenly, one of my best pets, Thunderclap, barges into my room. "What is it, Thunderclap?" I ask. Thunderclap whinnies and points to the calender beside my desk. "Goodness me!" I say, "It's 3 days to Christmas already!"

Africa, Eternia, and Power&Glory are waiting outside. They grunt. "Okay, okay, I know I forgot." I say. I grab a box of decorations and start hanging bows, lights, and candy-canes on the stables. My unicorns help with their horns to reach high places. There was lots of snow on the ground. Later, I finished all the decor, and went to do other things.

Hmmm...., I think. What will I give my pets? "Oh, Africa would love new wood for her stables." I murmer to myself. "Eternia likes going to explore, so I'll get her some new horseshoes and traveling bags. Of course I'll get P&G 3 sacks of apples, but what would Thunderclap like?"

On Christmas morning, I woke up to the sound of sleigh bells ringing. Oh! It's Christmas! I thought. I looked out the window, brushing away frost. A sleigh! I put on my slippers and went downstairs to get a better look. It really was a sleigh!

"Thanks so much!" I said to my squad pets. "It's beautiful!" My Christmas present was a beautiful Christmas sleight. It was red velvet on the inside, and painted red and white on the outside. It had sterling silver gliders, and a beaded string on it. It was trimmed with other Christmas garments, such as mistletoe. "You're the best!" I happily said.

I led my unicorns to the tree. Here you go, P&G, your own 3 sacks of apples! P&G whinnied happily. Eternia and Africa also enjoyed their new things. "Oh, here's yours!" I said to Thunderclap. I pulled out a rainbow jar. "Now YOU also get a custom skin!" I said. Thunderclap happily took the potion. Now she was a beautiful unicorn. (well, she also was one before. ;)) "Thank you all for being my best pets." I said, burying my head in Eternia's hair.

I hung the last candy cane up at the top of the tree and hopped down the ladder. I didnt exactly understand why I bought a tree this year, but decided just to go with it. I grabbed my notepad and pencil and started towards the Minor Nursery. Back before I became a Beastlord, my family didn't celebrate any winter holidays, so I made Christmas with my pets simple: They would make a list of what they wanted and I'd try to get one of those things. Good thing I have a lot of spare silver.

I slowly opened the gate to the huge stall for baby pets. They were all sleeping. I shrugged to myself and closed the gate behind me, starting towards the Major Nursery.

The mothers were awake and chatting. They turned their heads towards me as I walked through the gate.

"Hello, Winter!" Nightshade said cheerfully. "What brings you hear?"

I opened my mouth to reply when a bunch of shaking hit the manor. I clung onto Arctic gratefully as she gripped the ground. When I regained my balance, I ran outside and saw a group of dragons fighting on the ground. I slapped my palm to my forehead. 

"What a wonderful Christmas gift," I muttered as flames shot into the air.

It's way past Christmas, but...

I woke up to find Mina poking her head through my window. She was a clever, dappled gray unicorn. Normally she is sent to the battlefield island in her own squad, where she has to keep the Doom Drake in line, a difficult task, but just the day before I'd brought back all my squads.

“Mina?” I mumbled, still half asleep. “Wait, Mina?! How'd you get out of your stall?!”

Mina nickered softly in response. I sighed. She did this practically every morning, why was I surprised?

Just then, I smelled something awful, with a tinge of smoke.

“The Doom Drake! Mina!” I quickly ran outside to see that my recent prize from the event in town had escaped, and was attacking Milo!

Mina immediately ran over, standing in front of him with her horn raised at the Doom Drake. Some Christmas this was!

Milo squawked gratefully at his old friend. They'd both come from the same owner, and they'd grown up in my stables together, until I realized Mina's potential, and sent her to the battlefield.

The Doom Drake ignored her, flying closer and closer. But Mina refused to be frightened, and stood her ground. I was helpless. What could I do about an acid spitting Drake that could turn you to stone just by shifting his gaze?

Mina attacked with her magic horn just as the Drake was ready to fire. I watched as the Drake's body began to crackle like lightning with Mina's hit.

He quickly flew backwards, and slithered back into the stable, knowing he could lose.

Mina neighed triumphantly, then turned and checked her friend, who, luckily, was alright.

Unfortunately, after that scenario I couldn't let the Drake participate in the games. Mina willingly stayed behind to watch him, and I could've swore the Drake tried to give her an apology Christmas gift...
