Is there any way to beat the deer Etelia? My poor Carpo is languishing on the same island trying to beat one, and she keeps getting clobbered in one or two rounds thanks to Silent Pace. I can't tell whether I could do anything to help her or whether it's time to cut my losses and start over.

I heard Carpo is good for getting to higher islands, not much defeating Etelia's. Which would mean she really only works for finding Lykoses.

What happens when you defeat an Etelia? I'm on level 8, and trying to get past one, because she's blocking my portal to go up a level. Also, does it get easier to find Lykos eggs as you go up? Are they hidden behind monsters?

You get a Crystalline Ice, required to turn the snowflake into an Etelia. I believe it is easier to find Lykos eggs, but I'm not positive.

My GP3 Ice Breath lykos was my only beast who could defeat the etelias. My drakes couldn't get past level nine, my counterstrike unicorns with Magic horn were helpless because etelias with Ice Heart can't be blinded. Of course my lykos was blown down with Blizzard a lot, and Stalked, and had her Ice Breath turned against her quite a bit too, but in general she eventually won enough times to get me 21 crystalline ice. I exchanged one for one liquid vermillion, so we'll see what happens with that.

I'm working on the gene set for a tundra specialized roc and paws is the only one I'm still undecided on.

How do you know these things - about which genes defeat/negate other genes?
How do you know what genes the monsters have?
When I manually fight, I just bang along and keep hitting the bite button until I win or lose.

The gene descriptions will usually tell you that sort of thing. Ice Heart's info says "Immune to shriek, roar, petrify, frighten, blind effects". Those abilities all cause your opponent to lose a turn so I'm trying to figure out if massive wings was left out of the list or if it's the only turn loss ability that will work against ice heart.
So far as telling what genes/abilities the monsters have, some of them are listed in the monster codex, for the rest you need to manually fight them to see what abilities they have.

Oh, I've never really looked at the gene descriptions. Too lazy, I guess. But, I better start making lists.

Actually, I just realized that the ice heart and determined descriptions are identical and since massive wings is the only turn loss ability that says nothing about being negated by determined pets it should also work against ones with ice heart.

I can't wait for my etelia to grow up!!! Then I'll be able to get the crystalline ice more easily that I need to breed it. To get more etelias, to breed those, to get more etelias....
But if it takes 30 days for your etelia to breed, surely we'll only have time to breed one generation of etelias before tundra closes? So the most we'll be able to own is two, until next year.

I think it would depnd on the genes they got, for example, mine has some pretty good ones, could have been better, but still, pretty good, imo.
