Are you referring to extracting deviance? That means making a deviant pet non-deviant in order to create Liquid Deviance, which is an item used exculsively for the Tundra event. Until/unless it comes back around, you won't need to worry about that.

The tundra is definately coming back at some point; I know because I asked Angel last year when it was about to close because I had nowhere near enough deviants for all my hibernating eggs.
