Hi! I love reading books, stories, and pretty much anything and I have some good stuff that I'm willing to give away so I decided to make a writing contest! I'm going to judge the stories on the 20th (and will extend the due date if there aren't many posts or if people need more time).

Rules:

-  No immature content...

- No min or max, but don't feel like you have to write pages!

What I'm looking for:

- Creative

- Detailed, but uses a short amount of words

- At least some action ;P

I love writing, although I'm not that good. So I'll give it a go.

The two cockatrices glared. It was a stand-off. They were evernly matched, with petrifying gaze and a lot of skill.

One was quite pretty, with a spotted silver coat. The other, named Mira, was simply...average. Just black. She had absolutely no GP or gene combo abilities. The pretty one, named Lara, had GP3, acid spit, venomous skin, and counterstrike. You might ask why such different cockatrices are so evenly matched. Well, they're not. I kinda lied. Everyone knew that Mira was going to win.

Lara was a spoiled pet, not having to work. But she glared at the other pets a lot (in a very annoying way), which is why she had skill.

Mira, on the other hand, was one of her Beastlord's top explorers and fighters. The work made her tough, and she knew how to use what she had.

Ok, ok! Back to the fight.

Mira just stood there, muscles tense. She didn't want to fight, for she was quite friendly for her species. It was Lara who always challenged her. It was Lara who always attacked. And it was Lara who always lost.

The battle was quite gruesome.You wouldn't want to hear about it. But here's the gist of it: Lara went berserk. Mira defended. Lara lost. It sounds dull, but a LOT of stuff happened.

Shall I get out of your mind now and let you work? Heh, heh. I'm glad you stuck around.

Oh? You have a question? Ah, you want to know who I am. Well, that's simple. I'm Mira, Invader of the Mind.

The day has come. Jade Malmstalker prepared all his horses to possess their best form. They were trained using the most sophisticated programs, fed the best feeds. They got prepared by top trainers to be able to compete against the best of the best here in Doha. Their perfect shape mirrored in their special beauty, that made everyone sigh in amazement. Especially one, who was meant to be the star upon which the light of fame shall shine, the one, that was believed by many to be the unbeatable winner to whom none shall even compare. The one, that will trample all their opponents and stand high to collect all awe.

A stablehand opened her stall. She stepped out of the box, her head held proudly high, the sunshine lovingly caressing her perfect white coat, her eyes squinted as she looked directly in front her, her muscles played a sonata of astonishing power, the holsteiner brand proudly bending around her strong rump, her lips glistening as she just has drank. She took a deep breath, her nostrils opened wide, allowing the fresh morning air to entangle with her whole body, her coat shivered as it stood up from the exciting cold sensation. She slowly breathed out, keeping the concentrated expression, and in between with the breath she said: "Today is not a day for jumping."

Author's note: Me and my mom are always making fun of mare sporthorses. Males seem to give somewhat stable results but females are either phenomenally good or collect 120 penalty points in one go XD

The wary Lykos sniffed the air. Its eyes darted around the clearing for hunters. This particular Lykos the hunters had been trying to get since it appeared, as valuable as it could be. The beast pricked its ears to catch any sound to suggest hunters. When none were detected, it raced across the clearing, its paws just a blur flying over the ground. Arrows sliced through the air towards the Lykos. It zigzagged this way and that, and arrows showered the ground behind it. The Lykos made a huge leap and sailed towards the inviting shelter of the trees. Suddenly, it felt a sharp pain in its shoulder. The Lykos tumbled and fell short. Shouts echoed behind it as the Lykos struggled to rise. It was rewarded by another arrow sprouting from its flank. The beast howled in fury and pain as it tried to get up again. The hunters were running from their hiding places in the trees, dashing towards the Lykos. It managed to stand up weakly, then began to stumble towards the cover. More arrows sprouted from its neck and back. The Lykos finally crashed against the trunk of a thick tree. Its sight faded to black as it slipped into unconsciousness. 

When the Lykos woke up, it was lying on a soft fluffy human thing. A boy stroked the beast on the shoulders and back. The Lykos tried to snap at the boy's hand, but it was dizzy and weak and its head slumped back on the ground. The Lykos let out a low moan. "Shhh," the boy whispered as he cleaned the Lykos's wounds. As he worked, he told of how he had watched it try to escape the hunters. "It was as fast as lightning, and as strong as a boulder..."

Many years later, the boy had grown into a handsome young man. One day, he was riding a Unicorn in the forest at the edge of a waterfall when suddenly, the Unicorn's footing slipped and the boy was thrown off its back. But before he hit the water, strong jaws gripped the back of his shirt as he was carried to safety. The Lykos deposited him on the bank of the river and gazed at him. The boy gasped as he recognized the Lykos. It glanced around for a moment, then leaped away into the forest.

Can I use a story I wrote at a practice for my school's writing team?

The Intruder

    Being a psychic isn't all it's made out to be. You can't walk into a crowd without knowing how to hide or ignore miscellaneous thoughts. You have to hear every bad thing people think about you. It's not like a lightbulb, you can't just flip a switch and it turns off. You have to live with it. It helps if you don't tell anybody. Also it helps that I am mostly ignored because of my normal brown hair, green eyes, and average intelligence. If you tell anyone that you can read their minds, first they assume you are joking, and when you prove you aren't, they freak out. I thought my previous best friend would understand, but instead she spread the word, causing me to have to switch schools. My old friend, Samantha, was the kindest person I had ever met until I told her. She had green eyes and had gold-blonde hair. Ever since then, I haven't made any friends and keep to myself. Their are several people who believe in psychics but would freak out if they actually met me. Their is one person who might work as a friend but she calls me "The Intruder". I never respond or react to hide my secret. She never says it out loud, oddly enough. Oh, I forgot to say what she looks like and what her name is! Her name is Abigail, and she is a year older than me. She has perfectly strait, onyx-black hair that reflects light like a mirror in the sunlight. Her skin is a mix between light caramel and a porcelain white. Her eyes are oddly vivid purple, like a violet exploded with flecks of pale gold and ice blue, like an icicle on a long, cold, winter night (you expected me to say day huh?). I can't read any of her thoughts other than when she calls me "The Intruder" when she walks past me in the hall. I have tried coming up with a clever nickname for her and all I have come up with is "The Wall". Here she comes now. She whispers "Hello, The Intruder of my mind." I respond "Hello, The Wall". (Sorry that it's so long)

Long is fine! I said I liked a lot detail in short sentences, not a small amount of sentences! All the stories are great, so far! ;)
