I think it would be more conveniant if the skin library worked more like the list of custom skins so that the first set of skins displayed is the active species. It's annoying always having to switch tabs and becomes even more when you want a full size look at several skins and each time you return to the the library it's back to unicorns.

I can solve the second issue for you, right click the skin and select open in new tab.
