Without warning, the creature spat up a glob of sticky mucas, hitting the ground near Beck and covering him in the substance. As it moved sloser to Beck, several smaller versions of it without the mane jumped onto land to fallow it.

Beck tries to free himself using a flare to dry the substance. "Crap comeon come on i need to get out of here before the fire marsh salemander comes."

Smelling the egg, the creature lifted Beck and started running towards dry land, rushing past Ruby on its way out. Once the egg's location was well out of site, the creature dropped Beck back into the muddy water, not seeming to affect the mucus any, and started sniffing at him like it was trying to identify him.

After a minute, the mucus finished drying and was now a thick stiff caoting in Beck's fur. When Ruby tried to aproach the yellow creature, sevveral of the smaller creatures grouped together, forcing her back. Once the creature finished identifying Beck, it started looking around till it came to Ruby. When Ruby made a second advance, the creature dropped Beck into the muddy water, calling for the smaller creature to fallow as it left.

Wuth a purr, Ruby picked Beck up by the back of his shirt, and started her way back to the colony, avoiding any deeps spots in the water.

When they reached the colony, Ruby curled around Beck and started licking the dried mucus off, grooming him like he was one of her cubs.
"Well, look who's back," nathaniel said as he finished replacing the board on the cart.

"Little complication? Like what," he asked, trying to climb up to Beck, but was caught off guard by Ruby grabbing him by the back of the neck and setting him beside Beck. "That was unexpected. No one has picked me up by the neck like that since I was five," he said, rubbing the slightly bunched skin on his neck.

"There was some other creature there that was after the egg. I was stuck because of the saliva it spat. In the end it followed the scent of the egg. Ruby got me out of there." He pats Ruby on the side.
