Tell me - am I the only one who thinks that the color options for dragons are a little drab when compared to the other breeds? As is, I feel like they lose on the entertainment value that comes from trying to breed all the different color combos.

The dilute gene is what peeves me specifically. With blue and green there's only a minimal difference to the base color, and while I'm a big fan of the brown and gold produced from red and silver, I feel like even those could use a little more detail. Maybe there could be a fade effect like with apricot puma, or two-tone look like on black diluted cockatrice.

Anyone else have any thoughts on this?

Support. I'd change sky-blue to something like this: 00D0FA and Light Green to: 61E861

I call Vermillion "Vermi"

I occasionally use an IPad- please excuse spellcheck.

support.

If you re peeved by diluted gene on dragons, look at 4 whites on unicorns >.> (but to be fair unicorn markings are more diverse still) or 4 whites on pumas

I agree they are pretty flat and dull.
Like the puma got cat markings, the unicorn got horse markings, and the two birds got actual bird markings perhaps real reptiles could be used to get some ideas.

I plan to do a full series of custom skins (with a new base) but like I've touched on before, it isn't practical to replace every member of a species you own with skins due to the expense.

Support this, I'd like to see more variety in dragons.

Maybe a user contest for new color combinations? We have a lot of talented artists here (I am not one of them, lol) and I'm sure people could come up with some great variations.

YES an incredible amount of peevishness when looking at dragons (and cockatrices a tiny bit less) when compared to the others. It's very obvious that dragons were the very last to be thought about.

My friend is especially annoyed by the lazy flood fill - where some horns and details are missed being colored correctly.

The dilute makes me so sad. Blue should be bright sky or maybe purple and renamed "altnate color" instead of dilute :P And green either sea or lime. And white should be pink! :D

For the colors, I can get that dragons are fantasy and green/red/blue is typical, so that's alright. Just wish the patterns were better.

And cockatrices should be based on reptiles and chickens with a touch of fantasy. But at least they aren't as bad as the dragons (still worse than the other four by a long shot though).

If you play Aywas and would accept BP in return for pets/silver/items, message me! :D

Perhaps Lighten or Brighten instead of Dilute?  White would be pale pink, blue, bright sky blue, green a limeish color, but not so bright, black would still turn into silver, red would become orange, and silver would stay gold. I'd also like to see the spots on spotted cockatrices become bigger and more visible, and also give the Black Spotted actual spots- maybe white ones?

Well dilute is other breeds does some pretty amazing things, just look at the white-splashed red "dilute" red/yellow roc. So I don't even think it needs renamed just treated less... boring.

At first I didn't support cockatrices being changed either, but I've changed my mind. They aren't as bad as dragons but they could very easily be changed to be based on chickens and/or snakes.

Edit:
Did a quick, 10 minute mock-up in photoshop of a green dragon to better illustrate what I mean when I say "flat, dull, and boring to look at."

The default green dragon.

A mock-up of a dragon that is still very normal and green but is hopefully not so dull.

Mine isn't great either, my point is the body is one flat, low saturation color. The wings are one flat, low saturation color, it isn't very interesting.

I actually had the same problem with the dragons in Skyrim, dull and uninteresting. Tell you what though, it was more of a job to redo them to my tastes than it would be these guys! I think I spent four hours on Paarthurnax alone and don't get me started on how generic Alduin was. :|

@Ankokou Yes! My point exactly! I really like the lineart for the dragons, and even the colors that have been chosen, but they're just so flat and boring compared to the other breeds. That second dragon is so much better with such a little change. The shading on the wing alone brings a whole lot of character to it.

I agree, the dragon skins and art are lacking compared to the other species, but most notably, within the Dilute category.

I agree. The dragon does seem a bit "flat" (not saying bad, not at all, I just think the details need a little TLC). I like the details in the wings Ankokou! :)

Yeah, just comparing the metallics between dragons and cockatrice - the cockatrice definitely have that intense highlight that really creates the illusion of shiny metal.
