I'd like to see better rewards for submitting public skins. The people who create them put a lot of time into them, and don't get rewards until their skin has been used 10 times. I looked through all of the public skins and the most one's been used is 6 times. When we get out of beta and have more users, the current system would work, but now there are only 2165 users, many of whom have probably never had a gold coin. So, until using skins becomes more popular, I suggest one of two options:

a) Every 5 uses of a skin you get 5 GC. 5 uses is an acheviable goal- a few skins have already received 5 uses,

b) Every 10 uses of a skin made by you, you get 10 GC. This encourages players to make multiple skins.

To be honest, I'm not sure why we can't just have one use = one coin. Why make it so they have to wait for so many uses? They'll be getting the same amount in the end, but as things are now skins kind of feel like a big waste of time.

I don't get it either. Can someone explain?

Yeah. Even if a skin I submit only gets two or three uses in the end, at least I get something, and I can get some stat ups or save up for something better or what have you. Some sort of instant gratification is a great incentive for people to contribute to the site. Also, on a purely pleasure level, it'd make me happy to get notifs going '(User) has used your skin! You have received one gold!'

That way, I can go check out the pet using my skin too! Though perhaps people could have an option to remain anonymous when adopting a skin if the idea of being outed to the artist bothers them.

The minimum limit of 10 uses is a way to reduce the number of trash and low-quality skins submitted. The submission of skin is free and gives a chance to get a reward when the skin will be used. We don't want to make the skin submission a paid feature like in the most of other pet games. We're getting a lot of trash skins even now. We encourage players not to submit skins which won't get even this minimal amount of uses.

Rainbow Jar drops from the treasure chest on islands, and can be obtained from the Magic Shop, Beast Temple or as a reward for fulfilling a quest. Every user has a chance to find it without gold coins. I have a player account to see the game with player's eyes. It was registered 3 weeks ago, and I never do the exploring with more than 5 pets per day. I have 2 Rainbow Jars there found in the treasure chests.

Besides this, the number of players is growing. Over 2k registered users is a lot more than we were expecting to have in beta :)

I guess I'm unlucky... I explore with more than 5 pets a day, and have been since I got here, which was a little bit more than 3 weeks ago, and I've never found one. I do get not wanting trash skins, but if you look at Kayla-La's beautiful Dragon skin- I wouldn't call it, nor any others low quality, yet none have been used more than 6 times. The changes I suggest would only be for Beta, until people can use RL money to buy GC and Rainbow Jars, which will increase the number of uses. I also understand not wanting to make skin submission a paid feature, but the artists are using time which could be spent doing commissions for silver, or maybe even USD, but choose to spend it making skins for this site.

Why not just reject any skin that is "trash" and you feel is below a certain quality? Have a higher standard and only allow skins you feel "deserve" a gold per use.

I don't think it will be as much of an issue if the site is ever an amazing success and has many active members but right now even great skins aren't being used much. As it stands, rainbow jars are fairly rare and just expensive enough quite a few people seem to want private custom skins for that price.

I understand that part. It's because hopefully people will see that their skin isn't worth 10 GC, and not submit it, making it not need to be looked at. I just think that should be changed to 5 GC, until we really get rolling. I also found my first Rainbow Jar... derp.

I agree with Ank. Make some quality guidelines and stick with those, and then hire someone whose sole job is to look through pet skins and approve/reject them. I would actually volunteer for this if it would help get the ball rolling.

There's honestly nothing you could do that is going to stop people from attempting to profit off of 'trash skins', as you put it. As long as there's any sort of reward at all, you're going to get lazy people trying to claim it, and I don't think penalizing players who put effort into their skins to try to discourage them is the right way to go about it.

"Trash" or not. Unless I'm misunderstanding the way skin submission works, there are already submission guidlines and quality filters in place. Ultimately it's up to the player who is deciding on the skin they're picking for their creature to determine the "worthiness" of the approved created skins.
