This guide will somewhat elaborate how you can customize your pet with your own or other's creations. Apparel, custom skins, and backgrounds are covered.

Custom Skins 
Custom skins can be made using the official base, or made entirely from scratch with one's very own lines and coloring. Various programs can be used as long as it allows a transparent background (not white) behind the pet. 

 
To apply a custom skin to your pet you will need a Rainbow Jar. Found on the islands from buildings or chests, or purchased from items trades or the premium shop. One jar will be needed for pet you want a skin on.

No items are needed to create or submit a custom skin. Submitted skins may take several days to be seen for approval or rejected for re-tweaks.


To remove a custom skin from a pet, a gray jar is used. They can be found in the same way rainbow jars can. This will return their appearence to that before the skin was applied. No rainbow jar will be returned, they are consumed upon the initial use.

Common Mistakes/Things To Avoid When Making A Skin

The following customizations require a tack workshop.
This can be found during exploration from buildings or chests, or purchasing from the item trades. Once it is crafted, you can access the Tack Workshop To Craft Apparel from the Manor tab. 

Some apparels need specialty items to be crafted. Some can be purchased from the State Shop for silver, while others require a Laboratory Lvl 3 building to be built. Once built, it can be accessed from the Manor tab. Material crafted by the lab can also be sold, purchased, and traded.

To see apparel and backgrounds that others have made, select the custom filter in the tack workshop.


Backgrounds 

Backgrounds can be found on the islands from buildings and chests, one for each biome (except volcano), and custom ones can be submitted and crafted. 

To create a background it should be atleast 897 x 499 pixels, or bigger with the same ratio. This will go behind the pet and have required resources related to the scenery to craft it. You will get one free copy of the background you craft.

Be aware of the foot placement of the variousspecies when creating a background, as only the unicorn is previewed. 


Apparel
Apparels are items, armor, mini pets, and clothing that can be applied to a pet. There are some event and seasonal apparels, as well as ones available to craft year around from the tack workshop. Apparel can also be made by players to use on pets. 

Materials required to craft them will depend on the theme or makeup of the apparel. All materials can be found on the islands, purchased in the state shop for silver, or crafted in the lab.
