One of my pets has complete confusion. I checked what it meant, but then I was confused! Can someone explain it in a simplified way?

Tactics are special maneuvers that can be learned by heroes. They are intended for planning the battle and gathering a certain combination of maneuvers. Tactics score points at the last round when all of the maneuvers are already rolled.

You score the same number of attack points with your opponent if he rolled more attack points than you.

Means, how much your opponents scores from their attack maneuvers equals the score it counts as at the end, if they got more attack points then you, and you got 4 confusion and the tactic. -- You'll get it what roll refers to when you battle at least once in the battlefield.

But I've battlEd with it a few times now...

Anyway, so does that mean, for example:

If I roll one defense, two attacks, and one complete confusion, and the opponent has the same thing(replacing complete confusion wit attack), then that pet with complete confusion would score two, but if the opponents was replaced with defense, nothing would happen?

Complete Confusion doesn't help you unless you roll at least four Confusion maneuvers as well as the Complete Confusion tactic itself. And as Wireath said, it only works if the opponent scored more attack points than you.

You seem to be confused into thinking that each round of batle is counted separately. It isn't. While attack and defense moves can only score points on the round they're rolled, tactics points are tallied and added at the end of the battle, and can gain points from all rounds they apply to.

... Must be how I worded it, cuz I pretty much said all of what Sumatra_Echo said already, besides the round part.
