I saw that my female unicorn had 2/27 breedings, but 7 children. How does that work?

The Fertility Shrine can be found in the Desert biome in Explore, and if you visit it with a female pet, you can get a baby without using any breedings. There's also Pink Fish Eggs, an item which can make the female give birth to two babies, but only uses one breeding. Your pet may have used one or both of these methods to get more children than breedings.

But it didn't. Only one of my pets had- oh wait. This wasn't always my pet, it used to belong to someone else. Never mind!
