Im just curious here, like usual. In my real world animal breedings there are such things as pet only contracts. This is a contract that says the animal can not be bred and is only to be a pet. It is legal enough to be taken to court, as told by people I know. So, would such a thing for beastkeeper be able to be upheld? If the player bred the pet even after agreeing and or somehow signing the contract could action be taken? Like taking the pet back or something? Im curious to see what you alls say about this. Sure it's just a game, but people work hard on breeding perfect lines, so if a pet only contract could be a legal thing here it would be very useful.

It would be very hard to enforce and seems like it would cause unneccessary extra work for mods and admins. Just like in the real world where more and more breeders are fixing their animals before rehoming them because it is hard to keep track of all owners, I feel creating a method to make pets permanently infertile would work better

(Sorry for errors, I'm on my phone and can't wait outside of the scrolly box)

Liandralithe is correct. As soon as a pet is transferred on BeastKeeper, like most pet sites, the ownership is fully transferred. They could turn around and sell that pet for double if they wished. It would be difficult to keep track of, and enforce. There really isn't much, from a game mechanics view at this point, that could help us with that. As it stands. I can really only bother people who are breaking site rules. Transactions are mostly user orientated. We do little with that at this point.

I do like having the Breeder listed, that is nice. I think making a pet infertile, so severely lowering their viability, would help keep certain lines rare.

Personally, I don't publically sell lines I would like to keep rare. I don't even breed unless I have the request. I do these all through private transactions. I also leave a little note I the Profile that if they contact me I will buy the pet back for a slightly absurd amount of money. Pets have come back!

Always looking for Expand Stable Scrolls
