Other than the trading area, which region does Magnetite tend to pop up and how often? I've only found two pieces of it since I've started playing and I'm just wondering how impossible it will be for me right now to get 50 for the one recipe I need to make x.x

For the golem you actually need 25

They're hard to get just keep going lol.

As sandia says, for the golem you only need to get 25, so it might make sense to collect 25, obtain a Magnetite Golem Scheme, build that and wait for 10 days so it doubles the 25 to your needed 50 Magnetite. This means of course that it will take a while to reach your goal, but Magnetite is indeed a hard to find resource, so the Golem would make it much easier even if it means a 10 day wait time. 

Also, from my own experience, it seems to me that it's easier to find Magnetite (and most other building materials) in Grassland area. That still doesn't mean that it shows up a lot though ;)

Huh, that's odd. For me the gems and metals show up with far greater freguency in the desert.

The desert... that's where most of the crystal-like items pop up.

Both the grasslands and the desert are best for magnetite, with a 7.5% drop chance per visit. 

On a side note, the poster posted this in 2014. They probably won't read any of this.
