If so, how can you become one?

According to the staff page, there's 4 mods.
And I don't know how you become a mod, Angel would have to answer that.

Fya Is one of the mods for the site. I have not seen any others active besides Angel, and Voron_eril

Fya is currently the only player moderator on the game :) Angel and Voron_eril are admins/game developers :)
There's a mod application topic right now, you could check it out if you're interested in becoming a moderator!
