Hello, sorry if this has been answered already: How do you get a new skin for your pet if it's NOT custom? I want to change one of my dragons to be red but I have no clue how to do that. Can you tell I'm a noob

you can either find the Forest Alchemist (from explore, jungle biome) or use a mutagen on your pet but that way is riskier because you can change any gene not just the color or pattern ones.

I'm another noob, this is my first day. I like the game a lot so far, but one thing has me totally confused.
The game remembers 20 islands visited.
Is this just to prevent me landing on the same island twice in a day and having nothing to explore there later?
I can only go home from an island, and I don't see any way to jump back to an island (e.g. to go to a building that I couldn't use earlier).

Once you leave an island, it's gone.
It's more like 20 chances to explore. You can leave a pet on an island if you really have to. Just click away and select another pet.

it keeps giving me lvl 4-6s againsnt my lvl 1. Any way to avoid this?

Nope.
You can fight pets up to 5 levels above or below your pet's level. Since yours is a level1, there's no lower level opponents to battle. This applies to both Arena and Explore monsters.

Do young pets have the "*" next to their color if they have a deviant color?
I know adults do, but I'm not sure if the young do.

When exploring do certain areas give different finds? Like are you more likely to find wood in a certain spot etc.
