The main problem here is that I can't even guess what steps (functions etc) should be taken to achieve a task. Basically two parents have a colour value in the database, I need to generate a colour "between them" and insert that into the offspring's record. "Mixing" hex codes or RGB colours gives ugly results - colour just doesn't work that way - so that's a no-no.

Something something Colour Wheel with pre-set colours, finding the shortest possible range between any 2 colours, and choosing one of those inside it... then use hex codes/RGBA to tint the image with ImageMagick. The latter part is easy.

I just have no idea how to use the colour wheel, in code. Presumably a giant array; find the positions of the parents' values, and choose something between them, or add them to a new smaller array to choose from. Or are there better approaches? There need to be several different shades for each colour too; how should those be arranged in a wheel, or should lightening/darkening be done separately after the colour is decided? Dilution (for faded coats), too...

... logic and planning are not my strong points. But one day I'll manage this x)

On Ponystars you had RGB colours. So say 255, 255, 255.

Then the other parent was 50, 50, 50

So the baby was either exactly halfway between or there was a slight variance, I can't quite remember.

Ponystars was shut down because Acclaim was storing email addresses from minors or something... there was a court case in the US.

It was stupid. All websites store email addresses. It's how you recover your password and so forth. I didn't lose actual money, but I got so many pony traits on the black market there and was so upset that my pets were gone forever...

The European version was Poney vallee. But they changed the art to be really stupid-looking, and feeding your ponies became a clicking game. If I wanted to play farmville I would've just played farmville.

Oh, I remember googling Poney Vallee and thinking "wow those images look a lot like PI, maybe they were shut down for copyright infringement".

I managed to make my first portal trade! 

Still not active here lately... all these gryphons are fidgeting and pointing to their nearly-perfect features though... so soon, I swear :D

Pretty much working non-stop on my griff breeding game, after getting home from work. Thankfully there are lots of free and open-source projects to scavenge scripts from, and I gave up and hired a coder to do some tricky bits haha. This afternoon we finally have working dynamic coats, yay! And the coder will try adding colour-mixing to the breeding scripts tonight.

(about 99% of the griffs' random colour schemes look like poo, though. Not sure what can be done about it lol)

It's absolutely insane how many scripts and image-parts can be needed for simple-looking tasks. And this game is not even 1% as complex as BeastEon. Holy balls, I am in total respect for Angel and co. How can they work on a massive game for years and not lose their minds? x)

... but anyway, soon there'll be a break while some testers test the heck out of ugly griff breeding, and I can't wait to get back to establishing gryphon supremacy. Hide yo' unicorns >:D

Oof, decided that if I get a 3.6 GPA or lower I'm headed into vet school, as 3.6 (out of 4.0) is not super competitive for med school....

*Edit: I'm also going to start shadowing vets and see if this is actually what I want to do with my life. Large animal vets preferably, as I love me some cows <3
