1. What would be the perfect squad in your opinion? How do you know which tactics go with which? I'm still confused about how to match pets together. Your squads sound very advanced. I

2. I am a newbie but have gotten fairly decent pets. I have mostly gryphons, dragons and rocs. Are there certain animals that do better in the battlefield (like your four lycos) or pair better together?

3. Would a bunch of attack tactics like your 3rd squad be your suggestion for building a squad for a beginner? What kind of tactics go together, and how do you get moves like hold the line and complete confusion other than good genes?

Have a look at my squads.

I have had a lot of suuccess with gp3 pets with leadership and elemental attacks and Hold the Line.

My roc squad with lightning and tornado (massive wings) and Theory of Chaos is also pretty good.

The Deadly Frost squad is fun but doesn't win as often as the first squad.

There's no "perfect" squad, every combination has a counter and the battlefield works by getting you to play different squads that each have different weaknesses to get around a certain squad type. That being said, squads with tactics are generally better than squads without, and negative maneuvers obviously are unwelcome at all costs. 3GP pets will be very helpful in getting tactics and more easily getting second copies of maneuvers.

Yeah one problem is that if you want to get "Theory of Chaos" and other maneuvers you have to win 10/15 battles, but I can't really fight anyone because everyone around me are very strong... (a ton of great tactics)

I lurked around the borders fighting newbs. I am not proud.

Well no newbies on the borders now... Homeworld borders are dominated by lamel and Mirror is visenna and Nightswan. I'm not too happy about that lol

Game is very different, now.

I see from the above posts there is an issue with getting the required wins for the tactics. I'm putting together a bad squad (using default moves and 3 of them have a negative maneuver) consisting of 1 unicorn, 1 puma, and 2 smurgh. I will send it to one of the out of the way corners (north or south of the ancient battlefield, depending on space) for players to beat up on the mirror world. I suggest only attacking it if there is a spot open for it to retreat to or it will take forever to research its way back (only a suggestion but may be better than waiting 2-3 days for it to find its way back).

It is going to take them a bit to get onto the battlefield as they will start researching their way shortly.

I think you'll find if you attack me, there are going to be a lot more people to defend against than just me :^)

Also, I'd hardly call this "dominated by me", I'm actually having quite a rough time even landing squads :p
