Hello all! As of the time of this post there is no official collection of the history of beastkeeper so I am gathering together what events I can find from the News and Announcements posts. Due to people posting in the threads at different times the threads are out of order, so excuse me if I mixed up the order of events, but if you're looking to learn out about  the development of  Europa take a look in this thread!

Guardian Forest Monsters are raging for their treasures!

Forest Monsters are going furious because of the increasing number of pets belonging to Keepers coming to islands. Guardian Forest Monsters are known for their red color explained by the high content of vermillion in their bodies and their unusual might granted by the same magic substance. They started sealing the treasure chests with their blood in order to protect them from enemies. Somehow they've managed to make these blood seals keep vermillion undissociated outside their bodies. Actually this turned out to be even a better lure for Keepers than ordinary treasures: now every Keeper's pet has a 50% chance to find vermillion in treasure chests! Though the blood seal is very fragile, a traveler with Agile Paws can use his skills and find vermillion with 70% chance.

A breakthrough in genetics!

Our scientists have found out a new formula which made the Mutagen a lot more effective! They managed to exclude from mutation the genes which pet already has in its genome. But the most important discovery concerns the mutating bacteria itself: now this creepy little thing will add new genes from the pool with equal probability. Even the rarest genes have become reality among the keepers now!

Old Manuscripts

It is well-known that the majestic cities of the Old Empire were build with the help of Golems - the artificial creatures created from inanimate matter. Although the secret of creating the Golems was lost at the times of the Great Flood.

The Council of Mages discovered that the key to the animation of inanimate substance lies in the ancient manuscript which could escape destruction in the flood. The Council calls on all of the Beastlords to pass the found parts of the manuscript to the Municipal Scriptorium. When all of the parts will be collected, the Mages will be able to restore the principle of producing these industrious beings. Magicians promise to make a copy of the new Golem schemes as a reward for all Beastlords who will help by giving the manuscript parts to the Scriptorium.

The Golems are here

With the help of the Beastlords, the ancient manuscript was restored and the Magicians managed to construct and animate several Golems. The users who helped the Council have earned the unique achievement which is viewable in their profile and below avatar in the forum posts.

A Golem is an artificial being which multiplies the materials spent on its construction by 2. The Golems live 10 days providing 1/10 of their total material resource each day. To create a Golem, you need to find and learn its Scheme first. You can find the schemes for 4 Golems right now: Clay, Stone, Wood and Cotton.

Guild Competition Event

Recently, the State Portal Service have found a new large island on the northwest. It seemed to be completely ordinary until two independent Guilds, the Miners and the Mechanicians, have discovered unprecedentedly rich deposits of a rare element - Selenium. Only one Guild can claim these deposits, and it will be the one which demonstrates the most effective methods of deposit development. The Heads of each organization are asking Beastlords to provide their pets for this competition. Mechanicians are working in the alliance with Rocs due to the electrokinetic abilities of these huge birds, while Miners are processing the raw material with the help of Dragon fire.

The Guild of Mechanicians thanks Beastlords for help! To show their appreciation, Mechanicians used a part of the developed Selenium for producing a mixture which increases the vigour and shared it with the species that helped them to win.

The Battlefield and Tactic Battles

The scouts discovered a new island filled with the traces and ruins left from the Old Empire. The Beastlords will compete with each other to control the key zones on this island. But now pets won’t fight alone, they will be united into squads of 4 pets.

Competition for the newly revealed rock shelter

Written by drak

The waves of the sea covering our planet have been eroding the shores of our home island since the great floods, changing the coastline and undercutting cliffs. Recently, one of the overhangs collapsed into the sea, revealing a large rock shelter which must have been an undiscovered cavern before.

What is most interesting about the opening is that it holds a whole new biotope populated by animals and fungi not seen anywhere else. As the microclimate of the cave has suddenly changed with its exposition to sun and external conditions all the new organisms will probably soon get displaced by others and vanish so the University wants to take this opportunity and start studies on them as soon as possible. Hovewer, the new discovery has also attracted attention of the Conclave of Warlocks. One of the unique species is a brightly glowing cave mushroom which the warlocks see as a potential source of magic power and are strongly determined to take possession of.

The rock shelter location makes it inaccesible from the ground so both, the University and the Conclave of Warlocks, need flying creatures to get there. The University wants to ask help from Dragons which can scare off any creatures or humans away from the opening while the scientists are doing their research. The Conclave of Warlocks wants to use graceful Gryphons that will be able to avoid the guards and quickly collect the mysterious mushrooms.

There is not much time left before the biotope disappears - first come, first served. The University is looking for Dragons with Fearsome Look while Warlocks ask for Gryphons with Gracefulness. The Beastlords have 7 days to provide them with desired creatures. Who are you going to help?

The Gryphons sent by the Conclave of Warlocks have failed the task with a bang. The cave creatures evolved in darkness and silence and developed extremely perceptive senses and very fast response mechanisms making impossible to sneak past them. The graceful Gryphons turned out to be clumsy and slow for the cave predators. But the same environment factors made these cavern creatures very cautious and timid: this behaviour pattern was necessary to survive and thrive in the hostile biotope. The dragons easily scared off  the aggressive cave inhabitants along with several Gryphons that were hesitatingly hanging around the cave entrance, and cleared the way for the researchers from the University.

Guild Competition Event - Revanche

The Mechanicians Guild has developed the unique Selenium mine with the help of Rocs for several years and now the mine is exhausted. The State Portal Service geologists found another vein that lies deep below the exhausted one. The central problem that they are facing is how to reach there to continue development. A new tender is announced to find a technology to break the way through the hard rock and reach the deposit of the indispensable Selenium.

The Miners offer to use the agility and ability to see in the darkness of Pumas. The hard rock is pierced with a high number of narrow twisting channels of natural origin. Pumas can explore these channels and find the easy way to the lower deposits.
The Mechanicians think that the fastest method to make a way to the deposits is to use the acid of Cockatrices and simply dissolve the rock.

Both approaches require some extraordinary efforts from pets. Pumas must be extremely agile to find their way through insidious and dangerous channels, and Cockatrices must show high endurance to stand such body burden and produce enough acid solution.

Who are you going to help? There are 7 days for the competitors to hire enough participant pets. If you would like to participate in this event, go to Quests tab: Miners are looking for the agile Pumas while Mechanicians need the tough Cockatrices.

The Guild of Miners thanks Beastlords for help! This time they've managed to win the tender for the development of the Selenium deposit. To show their appreciation, Miners used a part of the developed Selenium for producing a mixture which reduces fatigability and shared it with the species that helped them to win.

Competition for the Heart of the Forest

Written by Nightingale

The Heart of the Forest is the most prosperous area on the island. The Druids have long inhabited the area and use it as training grounds for members of their faction. They believe that a close connection with the land enhances their magic. The forest is rich in medicinal plants and the pools have a deep magic about them. Recently the Geological Exploration Service, desiring to seek out rare and valuable minerals, are making their way into the forest. They are leaving a wake of destruction behind them. The Unicorns have always been defenders of the forest, but only the most courages of them can withstand the strong dragons that the Geological Exploration Service uses to clear land and extract resources.

Who are you going to help? There are 7 days for the competitors to hire enough participant pets. If you would like to participate in this event, go to Quests tab: Druids are looking for the brave Unicorns while the Geological Services need strong Dragons.

The disaster was close but the legendary bravery of their hooved friends have saved the day. The Geological Exploration Service sent hordes of ravaging Dragons who seem to be created specially for destruction and plunder.  Only phenomenal selflessness of the Unicorns led by Plainbeast saved this really magical place. Dragons broke the spirit of the allied forces of Unicorns and Druids who were ready to give up and leave the Heart of the Forest to be devastated for the profit of greedy humans. A bay stallion known as Plainbeast forced his way to the headquarters unit of Geological Exploration Service destroying the transport and the valuable equipment. These losses highly discouraged the geologists who weren't ready to face the opposition themselves and expected the Dragons to do all the job. This success inspired the defenders of the forest and gave them an opportunity to hurl back the attackers. Druids swear that the Sprit of Forest itself has awaken to help them win this conflict. The eyes of Plainbeast were glowing green and it was obvious that some force mightier than just luck protected him from the fire and claws of the Dragons.

World mirrors and Research potential

While searching for alternative ways to the other moons bypassing the portal on the battlefield, the best brains of Europa have made a scientific breakthrough. Several student Warlocks managed to open a tunnel that was leading to a mirror reality instead of another moon. This discovery was noticed by some of the open-minded lords who sponsored the further research. First the research group was unable to to reproduce the experiment but then they figured out that the tunnels are fluctuating and the particulat values in formula can be used only one time. When something moves through the tunnel, the properties of its matter are changing and the next traveller needs to start searching a way to this mirror from scratch.

Salamander Hunt

Dear Beastlord,

Recently increased tectonic activity caused new climatic changes. The waters of oceans became warmer. Exploration Guild is reporting about strange creatures that emerged from the oceans and started to settle in the shallow waters and small islands. They called them "salamanders". Salamanders are large amphibians that originally live in the deepwater thermal springs. Their body temperature is very high and their glands produce a chemical compound that produces a lot of heat energy by oxidation. Air contact boost oxidation processes several times. In other words, these creatures are able to breathe fire and their body is covered with flame.

Paying well for the Ethereal Shards!

Conclave of Warlocks is buying Ethereal Shards for great prices!
Ethereal Shard is a scale located at the center of salamander's breast. You can collect shards from the salamanders on islands. We don't buy all salamander scales, only shards are needed!

You made some inquiries and found out that Warlocks are preparing another weird experiment that will start in a week at the midnight when eruption of a large underwater volcano is expected. They plan to use the energy of the eruption and try to open one more portal to another moon. The core parts of the device that they are building must be very durable and heat-resistant to withstand the force of the eruption. Salamanders are used to live in the hot thermals, and Warlocks think that their heart-defending scales will make an ideal material. Their mad experiments always fizzle, but this is a great opportunity for you to get some cash and valueable items!

Kami of the Apocalypse

The Council has summoned you at the middle of the night.

After entering the conference hall, you see that the person who asked for an urgent meeting is an extremely tired middle-aged woman dressed in the laboratory coverall. She rises her hand asking to stop discontented muttering and listen to her.

- I'm an authorized representative of the Conclave of Warlocks and I want to inform the Council that our world is facing the doomsday.

Our last experiment turned out to be a terrible disaster instead of triumph. We managed to open the gate to another world, but it wasn't another moon. The portal has opened to another reality - the home world of Kami. Kami are spirits that impersonate different aspects and forces of world. There can be a nature Kami of storm and a Kami of a forest creek, a bear Kami and a wolf Kami, a Kami of fertility and a Kami of blacksmithing. But we were extremely… ehm.. lucky with our experiment. We draw the attention of Pestilence, War, Famine and Death. They are raging on our lands, destroying everything that we were rebuilding so hard after the Great Flood.
People are panicking. Many regions are stricken with unrest, epidemics and food shortage.

There’s a hope to turn the things back. We have studied several examples and found out that Kami are not pure evil or blind unstoppable force. They are ambivalent. Kami of Famine is withering the crops and killing the livestock at this moment, but he can protect the land from starvation if he decides make this land his home and protect it. We have to earn their favor to stop the catastrophe.”

- Chase them out yourself, it’s you who let them in our world! – a shout has interrupted the speech of Warlock.

- The Kami that are threatening Europa are very powerful, – she answered. – We have to admit that Conclave is unable to deal with this problem on its own. That’s why I’m here. Only the mightiest Beastlords will be able to persuade these spirits to change their nature. Please take this list.

She hands a copy to everyone in the hall.

- We have an idea about what each Kami desires. Please put the maximum efforts to complete these objectives. The Conclave too will use all of the resources to investigate the alternative way to deal with these spirits.
And the last thing. We have 2 weeks until the things go too bad. 2 weeks to stop the Apocalypse. Good luck everyone.

Random Box Discovery

The Warlocks were looking for something helpful at a stepped-up pace and found an interesting thing about the Random Box. The Conclave confiscated several boxes with the permission of Town Council from their owner, a slippery character named Ollie. After investigating their properties, the Warlocks found out that these boxes are actually a copy of one initial box. This thing is a transdimensional artifact that reproduces itself and exists in all of the reality mirrors at once. When someone opens a copy of Ollie’s Random Box, they get the loot from another dimension. It never attracted attention before but the critical situation with Kami forced to look for the solution everywhere. It’s known that Kami are able to see through dimensions. Warlocks were able to modify these boxes to cheat Kami. When you open a modified box, there’s a chance that Kami will confuse you with your twin in another dimension, and it may happen that this twin has already completed some of their objectives that you still didn’t. This means that you can get a random objective automatically completed by opening a Warlock Random Box.

Not Time For the Apocalypse

...As the day comes near to its end, you feel that the unease of the last days is swiftly leaving your mind. You understand how big the pressure was only after it’s gone. Warlocks tell that Kami disrupted not only the laws of inanimate nature, but the mental health of sentient creatures too, forcing them to behave sickly and drowning their minds in aggression, panic and desperation. When this veil of madness dissolves, you understand that the last Kami was convinced to stay on its good side.

Warlocks managed to deactivate their corrupted portal, so the doorway was closed for hungry and angry spirits from the other world. Only the courage, dedication and generosity of the Beastlords helped to stop the catastrophe that would become deadly for the common people.

New invaluable knowledge was obtained by the people of Europa. Except learning how to deal with Kami, Warlocks can open controlled one-way portals to the other worlds to lure different creatures to Europa. Although it is quite resourceful and sometimes attracted entities can be a bit differently than it was planned, it's possible to draw the attention of a certain Kami. Warlocks themselves think that a new bunch of their endless undecipherable formulas is more valuable than any Kami, and they are excited about all of the data that they gathered from the corrupted portal. You hope that their excitement won't turn into another apocalypse. Why couldn't those freaks attract a Kami of Joy, Fertility or Chocolate Cookies instead of War and Death?

Spring Festival

Town Council invites everyone to celebrate the season of Life and Rebirth and honor the beginning of spring by dressing your pets in the traditional festive outfits.

This year Spring Festival is going to be very special. Traditionally only two species were participating in show: Unicorns who master the ground, and Dragons who prevail in sky. This time the happy owners of Symurghs are preparing their pets too - these magnificent alien creatures perfectly adapted on Europa and became a new symbol of life and rebirth due to their unique abilities.

The Spring Festival is over. Europa people will recall it with words of excitement and admiration. The best pets in bright elegant outfits created an unforgettable show that laid aside the fears and stress and convinced citizens that life is beautiful and moves on.

Desert Biotope

The best engineers of Europa with the support of Conclave of Warlocks introduce a revolutionary portal upgrade that allows you to travel to significantly larger distances. Don't be surprised if you find yourself among the desert sands when coming out of portal gate! Now it’s possible to reach the chain of isles to the south that have arid climate. Who knows what new discoveries and forgotten technologies are waiting there? Though be careful as there can be new dangers too.

Conclave of Warlocks is looking for Glittering Sand!

Glittering Sand is a valuable substance for potions and magical devices. You can collect it on Desert islands. Once per 20 years a comet approaches Europa and scatters the stardust that drops at the equatorial zone of the moon. It visited Europa a few days ago, so it's time to collect Glittering Sand for this cycle. Look carefully under your feet, you may be walking upon a treasure that isn't so easy to notice!

We don't buy just any sand from the desert, only Glittering Sand has the right properties!

Savannah and Jungle Biotopes

The further development of portal technology brought new brilliant results today. Portal receivers now able to detect the energy flows from tropical areas! Maybe you can benefit from the wisdom of the odd folk living there?

Inventory limit

Unlimited storage of resources in barns and warehouses started to cause detrimental consequences. Buildings and equipment wear off too quick and sometimes even corrupt. Vermin feast over the enormous piles of food and even nightcats fail to deal with them. Unhealthy conditions cause the spoil of food and materials. To deal with this situation, the housekeeping authority decided to introduce a limit of 999 resource units per warehouse slot.

Deviant colors

There's no natural way to obtain a baby with both color and pattern affected by mutation. The Council of Mages in cooperation with Association of Breeders are developing a serum that will allow both attributes to express at once.

Deviant colors - double deviants

Association of Breeders has published the result of their research after comprehensive analysis and a number of experiments. According to their research, the only way to breed a pet with both deviant color and pattern is to choose very specific parents. One of the parents should have deviant color and the second one should have deviant pattern. The chances of getting a deviation on each color parameter still remains 1/10 so the babies with double deviation are extremely rare and valuable.

Dragons go Deviant

Beastkeeper Cosmology

Welcome Beastmasters, to the history of our kind… 5 billion years ago our ancestors were forced to emigrate from the planet Earth when the Sun became a red giant and the whole planet became inhospitable to life as they knew it. As their demise became imminent, the surviving humans moved forth and terraformed the moon of Jupiter, Europa, and migrated to their new home. The differences between their new home and Earth were apparent when creatures of huge sizes thrived where they could not have possibly lived in the environment of Earth. It became common to see enormous Dragons, Rocs and Gryphons in the wilds of their new planet. The ancestors thrived in their new civilization for thousands of years on the planet Europa, but  the same catastrophe that destroyed life on Earth now endangers the planet and all of the creatures that have made their home there.

The same red giant sun has melted the ice on Europa and has created planet-wide floods which covered most of planet leaving scattered islands and destroying much of civilization. Whispers from the people tell stories that the remnants of humanity are searching for a way to travel to more distant moons, but there has been nothing to confirm the rumors. Some sources speak of new biospheres which have been kept secret, other life forms, and the potential for new colonies.

While living on the planet of Europa, the people thrived, creating a utopia. Their advanced scientific knowledge of space travel, no longer necessary, gave way to a whole new form of knowledge, convening in the Council of Mages and the Warlock Conclave. The Mages looked over and taught humans, but they themselves were not true humans, not as we would see them. Their own genetic makeup had evolved the genes of other species, giving them kinship with certain animals that were heart-bound and couldn't resist being attracted to the Mages that shared their genome. Many people believe that the Mages possess the secrets of life and can manipulate flesh and soul at will. These supernatural abilities leave an air of mystery surrounding the Mages, and humans look to them with awe and fear. Creatures like Gryphons were believed to be the result of the Mages artificial experimenting, but no one knew for sure whether this is truth or not. Meanwhile, the Mages have continued to research the souls of the creatures of Europa for several years, and they now believe they are close to finding a way to travel to the other moons by harnessing these powers.

The Conclave of Warlocks are born normally, as humans, but choose to modify their essence and body by consuming the powers of different supernatural creatures, such as magickal animals. Even Mages and Druids, who disappeared mysteriously, have been sources of this power. These disappearances have been at the core of the hostility between the Mages and Warlocks that hunt them to consume their energies. Instead of living in a symbiotic relationship with certain creatures as the Mages do, the Warlocks' sole purpose is to enslave and consume the energies of all different creatures and sources.

A Perfect Toxin - Exhibition Sponsored by Conclave of Warlocks

Warlocks are working on a universal toxin and they suggested to sponsor this exhibition if we'll make it a bit special. We don't know why they need this toxin and we were told that it's not our business if we're not volunteering to test it, so let's hope that they need it as a base for a universal antidote.

Monster Codex

The Central Scriptorium has published the first part of Monster Codex. This treatise contains extensive knowledge about grassland and desert monsters. All Beastlords are highly adviced to study it in order to be prepared for all the risks that their pets may face on the islands.

 Throdama Specific Quests

There's a new set of Throdama specific quests. Finally Europa dwellers get used to these strange and sometimes scaring creatures and found out that they can be extremely useful.

Breakthrough in Roc color genetics

Conclave of Warlocks is looking for Dream Crystals!

Dream Crystals will allow to activate the Gate to the Dreamlands. You can collect crystals while hunting guardian Quezals.

 The Gate to the Dreamlands

The best minds of the Circle and the Conclave are working on the complex research of the other worlds since the last year's cataclysm when malicious Kami have barged to Europa ruining everything on their way. A method that will allow to open a controlled portal to another reality could push the economy and culture of Europa to the new level. Although we need to find a more delicate and better controlled source of energy than a blind nature force that Warlocks tried to use last time. And we think that this time we've succeeded!

We built a unique artifact, the Gate to the Dreamlands that allow creatures to travel to the land of dreams while they are awake. The energy that controls the Gate is very subtle - this is our dreams, and we're calling all the Beastlords to unite and collect the dreams to charge the Gate.

But how do you catch a dream?... This discovery was a lucky accident and happened when a group of Engineers were collecting the materials in the desert to manufacture lenses for projectors. One of the finished projectors occasionally displayed phantasmagoric visions over the recorded image. It turned out that the lens was created from a gem dropped by Quezal, and those weird images were dreams recorded by the gem. A long contact with the Quezal body may transform the structure of gem into such "dream trap", or Dream Crystal. Unfortunately, this happens very rarely due to a number of conditions that have to be met (age and metabolism of Quezal, the time of contact, the distance to the aggregations of dreamers, the type of gem, contact with Vermilion etc.). Statistical analysis tells that there's the biggest chance to find a Dream Crystal on the body or lair of an old healthy Quezal affected by Vermillion that lives not far from the human. In other words, hunt guardian Quezals! Warlock are opening their exchange station one more time and are ready to trade their unique goods for Dream Crystals.

The Gate to the Dreamlands, Part 2

The Circle and the Conclave thank all the Beastlords for collecting the Dream Crystals and charging the Gate to the Dreamlands. The energy is enough to keep the Gates open for two weeks. The research mission is already on its way to the heart of the Dreamlands. You can benefit from this opportunity as well - Dreamlands are full of incredible creatures that you can tame and convince to join your manor!

Dreamlands Gate time hiccups

The time started to behave funny since the reality of dreams began to leak on Europa through the Gate  to the Dreamlands. This night the time has stopped for 8 hours, but now it's running twice as fast for one day starting from  November 11th 2:30 PM BeastKeeper time, ending November 12th 2:30 PM BeastKeeper time. Don't miss your chance to benefit from this time whim!

 Holiday Bag

You notice a mysterious bag near the fireplace in your livingroom. You are not so surprised like you were at the same day last year but you're wondering who is this weird person that leaves presents every year in your manor while you're away. A small postcard is attached to the bag throat. You read it hoping to get an explation:

"Dear Beastlord! I was watching over you for the whole year and decided to reward your deeds with this humble present. Don't be afraid to open it, it won't bite... if you treat it well, of course. Soon you will find out where it came from."

There are no hints about who sent it. You eagerly open the bag…

Explore Tundra to find Lykos eggs!

The latest portal network upgrade provides a unique possibility to travel to the ice-covered tundra biotope. Although the network consumes tremendous amounts of energy and reaches only the tundra frontier. Geographical Exploration Service found an old system of interconnected tundra portals that may lead a brave traveler deeper into the frozen lands.

Before you leave to master the new lands, here are some facts that may be interesting before start:

  • Tundra was inhabited by the first Europa colonists just like all other Europa areas. Nobody lives there now but you may find the remnants of the old civilization.
  • You may travel deeper into the tundra lands through old portals. Old portals visually differ with their darker color and green energy vortex. The deeper you get, the more powerful the monsters become.
  • Tundra portal direction will be closed when the spring starts. According to the engineers, it’s too unprofitable to keep it open at the warm season.

Lykos is the fourth elemental pet

It masters the low temperatures. When the Cataclysm happened and the Great Flood destroyed the Old Empire, all survivor Lykoses went to a long hibernation. A hibernating Lykos produces an extremely durable ice shell around itself and then nearly stops all its life processes, going to sleep for centuries until its master comes or the environment turns friendlier.

 Puma Base Update

Heads up, the Association of Breeders is working hard to awake the deviant colors and patterns for Pumas. In order to prepare the experimental strain for this delicate process, they decided to fix some breeding mistakes and improve the wild type phenotype first.

 Cure the Love

You got a worried message from the Circle of Druids. Amor, the Kami of Love, came to one of their sacred groves. He looked very weak and was maniacally searching for something. Druids tell that he is corrupted and dying because the power source sustaining him was too scarce and he was forced to consume the different type of energy which turned out to be a bane for him. Luckily it’s not too late to improve the situation and cure him! The Circle has provided you with a list of actions that may help. But you need to hurry. Only 10 days left before Amor’s corruption becomes irreversible and he turns into something else and leaves this reality.

The second news for today is from your scouts: Pink Fish Eggs and Yellow Fish Eggs are available in explore among treasures and in premium shop! Send your pets to find some before they are gone.

Purified Amor fills the sacred grove with gentle light. Druids thank all the Beastlords who helped to restore the love energy flow that cured this magnificent creature.

Deviant Pumas are unlocked

The Association of Breeders proudly presents deviant colors for Pumas!

Neutering Serum

Following the multiple requests of breeders, Druids used their knowledge of plants to develop a Neutering Serum that makes a pet infertile. This item turned out easy to produce, and now it's available in the State Store.

Conclave of Warlocks is looking for Colored Eggs!

Island explorers reporting a big number of colored eggs found in the lairs of guardian monsters. Weirdly the guardians don't destroy or consume these eggs. These eggs belong to an unidentified species and may contain peculiar genetic sequences. The Conclave is highly interested in collecting some samples and researching them. As always, the Warlocks are counting on the help of the Beastlords and offering nice rewards for the eggs!

Beastlords have also noticed the population of Hoppers expanding to the new biotopes. Is this somehow related to the eggs?

Egg Hunt is Over

While studying the Colored Eggs, the Warlocks found out a funny thing: they belong to the species that is already widely known... the Hoppers!

The adult Hoppers were able to rebuild their reproductive system under the pressure of their new predator - the Salamanders who often hunt their young. Leaving the eggs in the lairs of guardians, they left them protected for a certain time until the safer environment will be established. At the same time adult Hoppers, now free from caring about this year's brood, were able to migrate to the new biotopes searching for a better place to live.

In the process of the research Warlocks were able to hatch a few eggs and now they are giving away the outcomes to the Beastlords who donated the most number of eggs for the study. These creatures are still unable to breed in captivity in addition to being young and vulnerable. Although they are tame and imprinted on humans, so Warlocks hope that they will at least make good pets.

Gryphon Base Update

Association of Breeders introduces the new standard for Gryphon phenotype. Poor breeding culture for many generations resulted in multiple malformations which are extinguished now. All basic Gryphon colors are renewed to match the new breeding standards.

Competition in the Deserted City

A young but influential aristocrat has recently taken possession of a large manor on the south of the kingdom. He has chosen to become a Beastlord, and only one little thing darkens the approaching day of ceremony: what pet to choose? The noble young man was attracted by the latest achievements of the Association of Breeders, and he finds the improvements in genetics of Pumas and Gryphons very inspiring. Both of these species are known as great battle and leisure companions. To make a final decision, the young lord decided to hold a competition for these two species. He paid the Warlocks to maintain a stable portal to a distant deserted city for one week, and hired a few assistants to hide the competition tokens all over the city. The environment is unfamiliar, scaring and uncomfortable for both species. Participating beasts will need remarkable courage and intelligence to find and collect the tokens. The winner will be the species that has made more raids to the deserted city and thus will collect more tokens. As a reward, the young lord will proudly adopt a pet of the winning species… and will pay the Warlocks to supply all pets of the winning species with serum that increases energy regeneration rate twice for one week. There's also a nice silver payout for every pet who is brave and clever enough to take part!

Which species will you choose? There are 7 days to hire enough participant pets. If you would like to participate in this event, go to Quests tab:  the Young Lord is looking for the clever Gryphons and Pumas with Lionheart.

The Young Lord comes out to a public to announce the result. A chubby black puma kitten follows him, trying to catch the tassels on the girdle of its new master. An unusual body build of the kitten reveals that it's not just an ordinary puma - the noble man was ambitious and rich enough to start his pet collection with a baby deviant.

"Thank you, ladies and gentlemen! I've been pleasantly surprised by your readiness to help with my humble request. The Warlocks were too kind and provided me with a magic device that allowed me to watch the whole competition with my own eyes. I was deeply impressed by the capabilities of all of the participants. Now I can say for sure that Gryphons and Pumas both make smart, brave and skillful pets. As a noble man, I honor my promises. The Pumas have brought more tokens. I was especially inspired by the performance of Anui - I never expected such courage and intelligence from a pet that looks like a beautiful but useless decoration. I purchased a kitten of the same type to become my first pet - please meet Black Muffin!"

A Water Crisis

Written by Sylviianel

Grave faces sat about the Town Council and tension ran high within the room as the discussion commenced. A Roc had arrived that morning, weary from its travel from a far off branch of the Messenger Service, bringing with it a plea for assistance. A town located in a small peninsula surrounded by salt watered oceans was in the midst a crisis: the last of their fresh water wells has gone dry. Without their wells they have no means of getting fresh water of their own and the town would surely perish without it.

The Trade Services recognizes the threat this holds to their own economy. While the peninsula was small, it's soil was rich with minerals that supported a wide range of crops, and the vast majority of its land was designated to agriculture. The food grown was shipped out and sold to markets all across Europa. If the wells were dry then the aqueducts that watered the fields were in danger as well, and if the crops were to perish it could lead to world-wide food shortages. Water must be delivered to the ailing town at once to prevent this from happening.

The majority of the Town Council was more concerned with the people of the peninsula. They could not see the bigger picture as the Trade Services could, but they still wished to assist in their own way. They would help to provide the aid the town so desperately needed by sending beasts to help dig new wells. New wells would bring fresh water to the town and save the people, solving the problem at hand.

The Trade Services is hiring the help of strong Dragons who can easily travel the great distance carrying water to the town and its many farms without growing weary.
The Town Council is sending Lykos who possess the keen instincts needed to locate the water that is deep underground.
The peninsula town, grateful for the aid, will be throwing a feast to honor their saviors and will reward the group that managed to help the most with a bountiful supply of their freshest vegetables. Eating healthy does a beast well, and the species that wins this prize will gain a boost to its overall health.

The town can only last 7 days under the current conditions, so help can not come soon enough. Go to the Quests tab now to send your pets to the peninsula to assist them: the Trade Services is looking for strong Dragons with Steel Muscles, and the Town Council is recruiting intuitive Lykos with Animal Instincts for the task.

"A Water Crisis" Event Result

The Trade Services has established a stable water delivery from the closest river with the help of largest and strongest Dragons timely provided by the Beastlords. The plans to find a new water source with the help of Lykoses have failed. The further investigation of problem showed that wells become dry due to the tectonic activity that changed the beds of the underground water sources. The water has gone too deep to be perceived with animal senses, even with the extraordinary ones. In addition, cryophilic Lykoses were poorly adapted to the tropical climate of the peninsula, and some of them were nearly fainting in the uncomfortable environment. Although with the help of the Dragon water delivery, there’s now enough time for Geological Service to conduct a thorough exploration and provide the town with the detailed plan of the new water beds.

639 Dragons and 288 Lykoses were sent to help the peninsula town. Dragons have won the competiton.

The town dwellers were extremely grateful for the help and thrown a feast for their saviors. Dragons will get hitpoints boost for the next 7 days.

Noble Intent vs Dirty Dealings

The Order of Knights is a noble order that upholds traditions and values. Lately, however, they have had their hands full dealing with the questionable activities of the Association of Gamblers. In committing these deeds the Gamblers are challenging the honor of the Knights and their ability to keep the peace, and they refuse to let the challenge go unmatched. The Order is determined to bring the Association of Gamblers to justice. To do so the Order has issued an official challenge against the Association and the Gamblers, as willing to take risks as ever, eagerly accepted.

Which organization do you support? Are you in favor of the idealistic values of the Knights or the risk taking lifestyle of the Gamblers? Head over to the Quests tab to take part in the duel: the Order of Knights is looking for Brave Gryphons with Gladiator while the Association of Gamblers is looking for Intuitive Cockatrices with Bet Expert. The dueling shall last for 7 days and each organization has agreed that, upon their defeat, they will help to pay for the training of the winning species for an entire week, making it less for the owner of the beasts.

The winning species will get a bonus: cheaper training for one week.

"Noble Intent vs Dirty Dealings" Event Result

The Association of Gamblers has lost the challenge. The perfectly trained Gryphons of the Order have proved their worthiness once more. A deal’s a deal; the Gamblers will cover half of the expenses for all Gryphon training sessions for the next week.

354 Gryphons and 102 Cockatrices have participated in the challenge. Gryphons have won the competiton and will get a discount for training in the Riding Hall for the next 7 days.

Strength and Cunning

Written by lamarqueisdead

The Champions of Ganymede have used Throdamas as beasts of war for countless generations. The heavily armored Defenders plow through enemy lines, spikes and plating pushing foes aside so that the strong and savage Warriors can cut them down.

The Knights of Io ride into battle on the backs of enormous, elegant Symurghs, using the beasts' agility, grandeur, and ethereal power to intimidate their foes and carry out elaborate battle plans.

The Champions of Ganymede are not renowned for cunning strategical maneuvers. Their methods are brutal and harsh, and seen by the Knights of Io as barbaric. "The Ganymedians are as cunning as a stone golem, and about as ruthless," goes a saying amidst the Ioian knights.

The Knights of Io have elegant strategy, but do not utilize the brute power of their beasts to win battles. Because of this, the Champions of Ganymede see them as too soft and too fussy. One Ganymedian general claimed that the Knights of Io "fail to use their beasts at their full strength", which she spoke of as dishonorable.

The Knights and Champions have agreed to meet on Europa to settle the debate and make peace. They will remain on Europa for a week, in which several tournaments will take place. Symurghs and Throdamas will compete against each other, testing the strength and agility of both species. The tournaments will take place at the Cavalier Field, where Beastlord mounts are trained.

The Champions of Ganymede seek strong Defender and Warrior Throdamas to represent Ganymede in the tournaments. The Knights of Io seek agile and clever Symurghs to represent Io. The Champions and Knights will utilitze the Quests system to acquire the participants.

The victorious species will receive accolades from all three nations and bonuses from their native planet. For 7 days, the winning species will receive a 50% increase to EXP gain.

"Strength and Cunning" Event Result

The victory of Knights was overwhelming. Throdamas, powerful as a Hive, have drastically lost the battles when facing their opponents in the tournament head-to-head and small group matches. However Ganymedians refused to admit their defeat, insisting that they would definitely win a real battle - the one that has nothing the same with those fancy contests for the pompous nobles that are good only for impressing young ladies.

227 Throdamas and 1162 Symurghs have participated in the challenge. Symurghs have won the competiton and will get a 50% EXP gain bonus for the next 7 days.

Defect Demonstrations

Pets with genetic conditions have been studied by various organizations so that they can learn from them and develop ways to overcome the disabilities. No group has found more use for these pets than the Muncipal Hospital who can test new medical procedures on the beasts. With new breakthroughs just around the corner, the hospital is having a funding dilemma that is affecting their current research.

The Neurology Department within the hospital wishes to use Slow-Minded Gryphons in their research to enhance memory retention and fight the debilitiating effects of Alzheimer's in aging patients.

The Intensive Care Department within the hospital wants to use Lykos with Weak Muscles to develop a method of strengthing the muscles of immobile patients who have grown weak from their bedridden state.

While these are both noble causes, the hospital only has it within its budget to focus on one area of research at the moment. The hospital's board has decided to allow both departments a week to gather support for their causes from the Beastlords of the land.

Which department do you believe should receive the funding for their research? There are 7 days for Beastlords to volunteer their own pets over at the Quests tab to help out with the research for each department so they can make their case to the board. The Neurology Department is looking for Gryphons with high Constitution who are Slow-Minded, while the Intensive Care Department is looking for Brave Lykos with Weak Muscles. The species that assists its corresponding department the most will be rewarded by Muncipal Hospital with cheaper genetic research for a week.

Carpo, the Kami of Autumn

As the last hot days pass by, the villagers are rushing to collect the autumn harvest. Europa is plentyful and generous this year. Magicians tell that it's not just a coincidence and good luck: they found that Carpo, a Harvest Kami was watching over the crops this year. They advice you to throw a feast to thank Kami for her help, and maybe she will stay to spread her power over your manor.

Carpo, one of the seasonal triad, is the Kami of Autumn. She represents ripening and harvesting. When you have Carpo in your Stables, your pets gather 20% more food in explore.

 Carpo Backstory Exclusive

Seeing how villagers are struggling to restore the damage done by the Kami of Apocalypse two cycles ago and fearing that they won't manage to replenish the resources fast enough, Carpo decided to help them in the last cycle. She done her work and was pleased to see the result, the great autumn feast in her honor. Of course, she couldn't resist and show herself to celebrate the success, and granted her constant blessing to the lords who were the most hard-working and caring about their lands to make sure that their lands will always stay bountiful and thriving.

Making Connections and Theories

In looking through the threads and gathering the events that have taken place on Europa, I've noticed some things that I never really put much thought into before but now I see they are a part of a bigger picture. I'll post some of these below, and other users can feel free to post their own comments on Europa's history as well as make theories as to what is to come.

Conclave of Warlocks::
So... why do we trust these guys? "The Warlocks' sole purpose is to enslave and consume the energies of all different creatures and sources." This is a part of beastkeeper's official history!  Consuming the energies of the creatures sounds evil, yes, but that part could be forgiven seeing as we consume creatures every day for their meat. Making it their sole purpose to enslave them though is taking things a bit too far. But this isn't the worst part of; the Warlocks are guilty of doing the same to people as well! "Even Mages and Druids, who disappeared mysteriously, have been sources of this power. These disappearances have been at the core of the hostility between the Mages and Warlocks that hunt them to consume their energies."

A Perfect Toxin::
Is anyone else concerned that these creature enslaving, power-consuming Warlocks borrowed our pets in the form of an exhibition to work on creating a universal toxin? We haven't heard anything else about this toxin since the exhibition so perhaps it will come into play a little later on.

Salamanders and Hoppers::
I wasn't on beastkeeper when the Salamander Hunt took place. I had noticed they weren't like the other species though, being located all over the island with the capability of guarding treasure and no alternate form with guardian coloration. When the Egg Hunt began and it mentioned the Hopper's new predators, the Salamanders, I didn't think anything by it except that maybe they had just become more of a threat recently. And then I went about collecting beastkeeper's history into one thread and find that there is an actual connection! Others may have already known this but it was a neat little realization for me.

The Young Lord::
Seeing as old events lead into newer related ones, I believe this new npc beastlord and his new Puma, Black Muffin, will come back later on. It's just a theory of mine, since I have no actual proof, but it'd be an interesting development to have recurring characters that aren't associated with any of the guilds.

Ollie::
I noticed this when looking for information for Monues' new guide to the groups/people of Europa. Under the headline Random Box Discovery is the story of how the Random Boxes were discovered. The original owner of the boxes was a guy by the name of Ollie. This small detail is completely irrelevant to the story and yet it was added... why? It even goes to tell us that he's a slippery character, information we don't really need seeing as he was only mentioned briefly that one time and has made no other appearances.

Seasonal Triad::
Under Carpo's description on the special pet's page it mentions how she is a part of the Seasonal Triad; that means that there are two more Kami to complete her set! I am hoping they are all cat-like, similar to how the Apocalypse Kami were all Unicorns. Also, to beat her, she challenges you to a Pumpkin Pie Battle. It's a normal fight but still, a Pumpkin Pie Battle!

I am thrilled to be able to post here saying that I've been able to contribute to BK's history! I submitted 12 entries in this recent Quest Event Writing Contest and today I got the news that several were accepted.

Kami Speculations::

Kami are a pretty big deal here on BK due to their elusiveness and the difficulty it is to obtain them once an event appears. I have some thoughts I'd like to share on possible future Kami, or the lack thereof, so hear me out! Chime in if you have any thoughts on the matter.

  • Halloween Kami - While I would personally love a Kami release for Halloween, centered around the trait of Fear or Trickery, I do not want it to be released this year (2015). My reasoning? Halloween is just around the corner, just a month away, and people will likely still be recovering from the Carpo scramble. I do not think Kami should be so close together and we should be in this for the long run. If all holidays and whatnot got a Kami right away then what will there be after that?

  • Thanksgiving Kami - I do not think we will be getting a Kami centered around Thanksgiving. Carpo already fits the bill pretty nicely there and the concept of hosting a feast for the Kami to stay has already been used for her.

  • Christmas Kami - With Carpo's description mentioning the Seasonal Triad I believe a safer bet to the Christmas Kami would be the Kami of Winter. This is also more likely due to BK's diversity; not everyone celebrates Christmas, after all, so any Kami relating to the Wintertime holidays would need to incoorporate the multitude of cultures. Perhaps the design or objectives may have some Christmas-y themes but that is the most I would expect from it.

  • New Year's - Be it this year, the next, or even later on, I don't think the game could go wrong with a Kami relating to New Year's. I would imagine this would be the Kami of Luck, or Fortune, as New Year's is often depicted as a time of change as the new year is ushered in. While the typical Chinese-style dragon would suffice I think the BK artists could expand on the design to make something that is our own. Or, perhaps, depending on the year it is released, it could be based on the year of the zodiac we are entering.

  • Weather Kami - Outside of the holiday spectrum, I would like for there to be a group of Kami related to the weather. This would be nice since, not being tied to a certain time of the year, these Kami could be released at any time. If it is to be limited to a set of 4 I would personally want there to be a Thunder Kami, a Tornado Kami, a Sun Kami, and a Kami of Clouds. Rainy, Windy, Sunny, and Cloudy. Event-wise I could easily picture there being havoc in Europa due to the influence of the Kami over the weather. Flash floods, droughts, etc.
