I have recently joined and am already loving this site!
I am a bit confused on the genetics and and hy there are two columns on them. Also, on two of my unicorns, teir colors say Gray -------- with a star next to it. What does this mean?

Well welcome! And glad you're enjoying it. This is a really amazing game. ^^
The genes in the left column are the genes inherited from the mother, and in the right from the father.
And cogratulations! The star next to the color means that the pet is a deviant. Deviants are special rare mutations that have a 10% chance of occurring in a pet if they meet the deviant requirements. Which is by having either homozygous color or homozygous pattern. You can see the deviance expressed by your female's special color, and you'll see the special coloring in your male when he grows up.
