I am only exploring on the grasslands and I am finding between 30-40 eggs in around 50-60 islands, and I am exploring at different times of the day. 

Maybe pets with certain genes find more. I have noticed that Carpo finds 2-3 eggs per island usually. I don't think I have explored an island with her and not found an egg. 

My egg-finding rate also dropped after I got my hopper, but then I wasn't quite so motivated to explore....

Anyone knows if it's possible to get more hoppers? I don't think so I could get enough eggs, but maybe?

It would be cool if we could get more hoppers for the eggs we find :)

You can only buy one hopper from the exchange itself, but it sounds like it's possilble to get a second one if you're in the top 50 for exchanged eggs.

Or if you bribe someone who doesn't want a hopper to buy it for you, but I'm sure Sylvii and her kin have already thought of that ^_^

I'm 10 eggs away from my Hopper because I've had an extreme slacking off problem during this event, but meh, I don't feel like grinding. And with the Spring Kami just around the corner I want to be prepared mentally for that grind, since the Hopper will be a yearly thing and the Seasonal Triad likely a 1-time event for each.

Since I missed the last years hopper catch, I've put a thread in the forum looking for players who would give me one hopper in exchange for the eggs, but noone answered :(

Urgh this game seems to hate me. I have only got 20 eggs, and i am really doubting i will get my first Hopper this time round. :(

So wait what happens for the top 50 if like alot of people got the 50 eggs for the hopper and not all of them make the top 50 cutoff?  

I'm pretty sure that getting a hopper from being in the top 50 is entirely separate from the one you get from exchange, so theoretically whoever's in the top 50 could wind up with 2 hoppers this year.

Yeah but I guess I mean what if like everyone's got 50 how would they break the tie?

Ralphx, some people are bound to turn in more than 50, spending some on the smaller items. But, hypothetically, if it is a tie of over 50 people, the fair option would be that the fastest people are the winners.
