Hi I just now began to play. I'm looking for an active mentor who can help extend my tutorial and brighten the corners the game did not touch. Maybe I can get my mentor random gifts for answering my questions, I won't beg for supplies or pets. Thank you! And I'm looking for friends too

Hello and welcome! A really good place to start is Timain's guide for new players, which you can find here. If there's anything else you'd like to know, I'd be happy to clarify any details about the game and offer advice, just shoot me a PM anytime.

@Sumatra_Echo, I went there and I didn't really get what was going on with the breeding markings. Like why do they have a brain to represent a marking? And can I breed two different species together, I've seen hybrids

Each of the little symbols represents a body part of the animal. At Beastkeeper, pets are mainly bred for abilities, not appearance. Genes in the Brain category can increase or decrease the pet's Intelligence, which affects Accuracy when fighting. The only genes which affect the pet's appearance are Color and Pattern, which are the bottom two rows on the chart.

No, you can't breed two different species together, and there are no hybrids. The "hybrid" you saw may have been either a gryphon or a symurgh, both of which are individual species and can only be bred with other pets of the same species.

@Sumatra_Echo, thank you! I get it now after studying my Cockatrice Pina's generics. More questions. I saw a white puma with a mane mutation on the preview of the game like a mutation, is it possibly to get mutations like that? And I've also seen weirdly shaped Pumas, much thinner then the average Puma, like agile and fit like a cheetah. Why?

Also, I'm curious how to get species that can't be found in the wild, like the wolves. I want a first generation one so do I have to find the egg of one?

Thank you again

Arie, those pumas are deviants, the ones with rarer types of skins. They are not mutated. (Although, there is a thing called Mutagen which, when used on a pet, alters one of its genes) You can visit the List of Skins, which falls under the Help tab, and see all the possible official skins for all the species there.

I recommend you to visit the Player Guides (found in the Forums) and the FAQ (also found under the Help tab) to learn more about the game. By the way, the wolves, you were talking about, are called lykoses (lykos). I'm just going to gift a female one to you so you can breed her and get a few more lykoses. Feel free to ask more questions. Always happy to help. :)

The pumas with different body shapes are in fact created due to a mutation, which has a 1 in 10 chance of occurring when a pet is born with two copies of the same color or pattern gene. As Ascot said, they're called deviants, and they are considered much more valuable than non-deviants. There are also deviant rocs, unicorns, and dragons, although it's possible deviant forms for other species may be eventually introduced as well.

Wild lykos come from a single yearly event where you find the eggs in Explore and activate them by crafting certain items. Unfortunately, that event has just ended for the year. So yes, you would either need to buy an egg from someone, or a lykos that came out of an egg. Unless you were lucky and found one in the pound. If you go looking to buy an egg, make sure to find an Activated Egg, not a Hibernating Egg, because there's no way to activate them outside of the event.

Also, I have this GP1 symurgh with nice genes I'd be happy to give you if you'd like, to get a little head start. Been trying to sell him, but no one's interested. In fact, his mother was given to me as a newbie, so it'd be cool to pay that forward.

"The pumas with different body shapes are in fact created due to a mutation."

Sumatra_Echo, thank you for correcting me!
