A while back, as some of you may remember, NightbaneWolf had an art contest featuring their OC and I was astounded by some of the entries there; there was a lot of amazing artwork entered and so, since I'm currently looking for art, I decided to make a contest of it. Of course there will be prizes for the best entries, some of which are being featured in the above banner, so I hope this will entice as great of a turn-out as Nightbane got! 

As the banner says, there is a 'Windrose' theme to this contest. What is windrose? Well, I'm referring to explorewindrose, another pet site I'm a user on created by the amazing Rayna Winters or, as us users there know her as, Elyneara. The artwork on the site was created by her and as such all credit for the images of my Sprouts (pets) that I'll be posting here belong to her. There will be multiple choices for your artwork to feature but, no matter what you choose to draw, all pieces will be judged similarly based on their quality and my own personal preference.

Rules

1. You may enter multiple drawings in the contest but you may not win two major prizes. I will be giving out smaller prizes as I see fit to reward my favorite pieces and these can be won alongside the bigger ones. A benefit to multiple submissions is that you can earn bonus points on your main piece.
   
2. All art must be your own. Do not steal or take credit for something that is not yours.
   
3. I prefer digital art and as such will likely give a higher rating in my judging to digital artworks. However, if you can get a high quality picture, either with a good camera or a scanner, of a traditional hand-done drawing you may enter them as well.
   
4. Do not clutter the thread unnecessarily. You may ask questions about what I'm looking for/what would be acceptable but stay on topic.
   

There currently is no set deadline to the contest. I will include one at a later time once I see how much time people need in order to finish their artwork.

Art Subjects

Below are the various acceptable pets of mine for you to draw for your submission(s). The images will be linked to their full sizes. I will include some basic information on each but, if you have any questions, feel free to ask. I will include questions/answers that I think others may find helpful at the bottom of this post.

I have no preference to which Sprout you choose to do art of, so do whichever you think you can do the best! Be creative!

FlutterFish::

• FlutterFish is a Lab Sprout, with a Sator form, featuring two mutations.
• FlutterFish is female.
  
• Art of either form is accepted. As a Sator, any clothing is acceptable. Different hairstyles are okay so long as the approximate length is the same.
• Labs are 5-6 inches in length from the tip of their nose to the base of their tails. If a background is included, keep sizes proportional to what is in them.
• FlutterFish's mate is Danio; art of them paired together is acceptable.
• FlutterFish is a part of my Tranquility Pond. A description of it is as follows - the tranquility pond is a part of my garden that consists of an expanse of clear water for my fish-tailed Labs to swim in. At the center is a small grassy island that is just large enough to hold a decorative fountain.

Danio::

• Danio is a Lab Sprout with four different mutations.
• Danio is a male.
  
• Labs are 5-6 inches in length from the tip of their nose to the base of their tails. If a background is included, keep sizes proportional to what is in them.
• Danio's mate is FlutterFish; art of them paired together is acceptable.
• Danio is a part of my Tranquility Pond. A description of it is as follows - the tranquility pond is a part of my garden that consists of an expanse of clear water for my fish-tailed Labs to swim in. At the center is a small grassy island that is just large enough to hold a decorative fountain.

Gamurra::

• Gamurra is a Haitchi with three mutations.
  
• Gamurra is female.
  
• Haitchis are 18-24 inches from their nose to the base of their tail. Keep this in mind if a background/objectss are included in the image.
  
• Turtles are adorable.
  
• Gamurra is a daughter of the custom Haitchi Gammara whose original concept/design was created by the windrose user Gamera (#1104).

'Witch Coven'::

• Tassos, Trick-or-Treat, and Toil-and-Trouble are Labs with various gourd/pumpkin mutations. Tempter is a part of the group as well, just added at a later date due to the time it took me to acquire their hat.
  
• They are all male.
• Labs are 5-6 inches in length from the tip of their nose to the base of their tails. If a background is included, keep sizes proportional to what is in them.
• I'd prefer art of these three four as a group but art of just one of them is acceptable.
  
• They await a fourth and final final member to their coven... someday a Lab with the Rainbow Gourd mutation will finish my collection of the hats.

Llyran::

• Llyran is a Nephrochi.
• Llyran is female.
• Nephrochis are 15-20 inches from their nose to the end of their tail. Keep their small size in mind if placing the Sprout with a background.
• Llyran is a special sprout of mine due to her eyeless-ness. Nephrochis are meant to have eyes but, due to an error, I created these eyeless noodles and I love my little blind babies.
• Fun Fact: Nephrochis are known to eat other Sprouts.

I was wondering, what is the art for? I mean, is there some restriction in the content, background, resolution, size and such?

Do you want something purely esthetic kinda like a painting or would you prefer those pets alone?

Mine will be of Danio and FlutterFish, although keep in mind I have no way to make digital art. I have multiple reasons to back that up, and friends that can support that. My only option was paper and pencil, I hope you understand and can possibly take that into consideration when picking the winners.

Also, I might not be able to draw a decent background, but if I decide to, what does the fountain look like, how big is the pool, and how big is the island in comparison to the pool and Sprouts?

@Wolla:: The art is purely for me wanting art of my pretty little babies, there are no restrictions. It will be displayed on their profiles.

I'm leaving the specifics of the artwork up to each user entering as I'd rather they stick to what they're comfortable and good at than strive for a certain limited style that they may not have experience doing. Art like a painting sounds great to me though!

@SuperHappy:: The fountain is low to ground, slightly less than a foot off the ground so that the Labs inhabitting the area can jump up up onto/into it. Details of the fountain itself, such as if it is a simple tiered fountain or more ornate, have not been decided upon yet so it is fully open to interpretation. The island is circular and only expands maybe an inch past the edges of the fountain, so it is fairly small. The pond completely surrounds the island although it has not been given an official unit size. The borders are surrounded by cattails.

So it's okay that I can't do digital?

Digital is definitely preferred but, if you can't, just make sure to get a good picture of it. I know my laptop's camera is terrible at taking pictures of pictures so, eh, yeah. If you can get a good picture then it's fine.

Oh...that might be a problem, but I'll try!

Excellent! I was starting to wonder if this thing was dead before ever having lived so I'm glad I can expect something soon; I can't wait!

If you were planning on doing something with the "witch" sprouts, the fourth has been added! But if it's something that could only work with the previous three that is alright due to the Rainbow one not being posted earlier.

Yikes, I haven't even started mine! Life's been hard on me, I'll have to get going!

I didn't have time for a background since I'm leaving tonight for a week but finally I'm pretty happy without it so, hope you like it.

Are we allowed to draw more than one creature of the same species in the same picture? Also, what is the natural habitat of Llyrans? I might use that as a background.
