i was exploring in the grasslands and it wasent alowing me to pick things up so i left the map to check my inventory and i still had space openÂ

Is it only for certain items, or can you not pick up anything?
Do you have 999 of any items? If you do, you won't be able to pick any of those up until you free up some space.

my inventory says i can only hold 30 items but it says i have 31 things ...but then i counted what i have i there and its only 26 things ....also nothing is over 999 in ant catagory

Items that you place on auctions and items exchanges are still taking place in your inventory. You need to sell them or destroy in order to free some space. Auction house doesn't store your items, it is merely a catalogue available for everyone else.
The limit is soft, you can get items bought from auctions over the limit if the bid was made before you ran out of space, so the transactìon isn't cancelled because the buyer didn't notice the space issue.
