What do the stars next to Heritage mean?

Green stars equal GP or genetic power, which is gained by breeding lvl 50 parents. GP lvls add 10 points to each of the main characteristics for a total of 30 points at GP3.
Red stars equal degeneration, acquired by breeding pets that are related within the past 2 3 generations. Degeneration introduces the possibilty for negative mutations and each degen lvl increases the gene power (dominance) of negative genes by 10.
