My account is very old, and it is possible this is because I was here during the beta testing. I got on after a very long hiatus (2 years) and saw that the pets I had bred now say "unknown" as their breeder instead of my name (even in cases where I own the mother, father, and child). Now it is saying I am the breeder on the wild pets I captured recently (which struck me as odd because usually those should be unknown).

The bug should be able to be seen on my pets profiles.

I know I bred this one. I still own the mother and father.

This is one of the wild ones that says I am its breeder.

I run Windows 8 and use google Chrome.

Its not a bug, pets that existed before the update have their breeder listed as Unknown because the information was not previously stored. However, I am curious as well about the wild pets having their breeder listed. :D

That's why I didn't come to the board before I found the wild pets had a breeder listed (as me)... I figured there was an update at some point and the database had been wiped or something going from beta to live. But wilds having a breeder is a bit funny.

Database wasn't wiped. Although we had no chance to find out who bred a pet before we actually started logging this info. Pets could be traded, gifted, adopted from pound losing the track of their original breeder.

As for the wilds and event pets, they have the player who adopted them first time as a breeder. This isn't a bug. "Breeder" is a field that tells other players who produced this pet, or in other words, which account was the first to obtain that particular pet.
