Does anyone else feel that "Normal" deviants kind of got left out?  Shouldn't they be extra-ordinarily normal, or something?

All other deviants are gloriously outstanding.  Couldn't normals at least have a deeper, richer color than non-deviant normals?  Or maybe firely red or golden eyes, gold talons.....something?

They're just so.....normal.  :P

I agree they should have something unique about them. It doesn't have to be something over the top or extravagent, just something that sets them apart from normal normals and shows of their normal deviance.

Receiving a deviant from the exhibitions is exciting, unless you end up with a normal one. In that case it's like you're receiving a booby prize for your efforts.

Just a little something special would be nice, ya know?

Normal Pattern should not equal boring deviant. Sylviianel is right - it does feel like a ripoff. "Hey look, Deviant! Let me research its - aw maaaan! Normal pattern!"

Maybe Normal Pattern could equate to something like DnD's Dire animals, like Rapture suggested. Bony armor, spiked ridges, bigger claws, so on...

I'm sorry, the signature that you are attempting to reach is not available. Please leave a message at the tone. *beep*

Same thing happened to me too.I was so excited when I got my very first deviant  http://beastkeeper.com/pet/321570 ,but when I researched her genes she was a normal pattern deviant and then I was disappointed for having a common dragon and nothing special.

Normal deviants are a pain, but after Angel confirmed that the tundra would return I've chosen to think of them as a free source of liquid deviance instead.

They are very dissapointing as they take the same effort as all the others, some of them are even uglier than the non-deviant. They should be a different shade or something distinctive even if it is simple.

??? Normal deviants are identical to non-deviants of the same color; how are they uglier?

This is a game about genetics and breeding. The thing behind the normal deviants is called "epistasis".

I think this picture pretty explains it.

All you need is not to breed normal pattern pets. And it's not true that normal pattern pets take the same efforts. They just pop here and there when you breed for genes, so they don't take any efforts at all unless you intentionally try to get a normal deviant and breeding two homozygous normal pets again and again, but then you know what you're doing. Though I understand the rant about normal deviants as exhibition prizes (got one of them too), but it's just luck, and I tend to think that pets aren't main prizes but just a little addition to the scrolls and trophy. I'm also pretty sure that normal deviants were made like this intentionally to boost breeding for rare patterns and make deviants with visual distinctions harder to get.
