Hello! I'm a little confused. I did a roc pairing and the offspring to turned out to be the deviant color lavendar. I have no idea how this happened or why... it was quite the surprise, being a new player. Could someone explain all this deviant stuff? I tried reading on in FAQ but I didn't understand it too well. An explanation would be appreciated!

Thanks!

If you get a double pairing of the same color or/and pattern gene in the baby, there's a flat 10% chance that one of the double paired ones will be deviant.

To get double deviants (Color and pattern both deviant), breed a deviant color with a deviant pattern - Those babies have a 1/100 chance of coming out double deviant.

So:
Brown/dilute X Brown/dilute = 10% chance of deviant lavender (Color or pattern)
Brown/dilute X White/dilute = 10% chance of deviant lavender (Pattern)
Brown/dilute X Brown/bicolor = 10% chance of deviant lavender (Color)

Still a little fuzzy, apologies. So what was going on with the parents??

Ok I understand it better now. Thanks!

The parents are a Chestnut Owl (Brown/Owl) and Sparrowhawk(Brown/Bird of prey)

So they probably passed their recessive pattern genes (Either Dilute or Bicolor) along with both their dominant colors (Brown), or one dominant color and another recessive not-brown color

Since the child is deviant, you know it either got Brown/Brown or Dilute/Dilute from its parents. Maybe both.
