hey there I'm missing a newbie guide or a walktrough for the game, so I thought I just post my questions here and hope someone can answer them..

1. what exactly are species-specific genes and where can I see them?

2. why are there two groups of genes at my pet's page? is the green one the "active" gene and the other one the second gene that pups might inherit?

3. is there no option to put the pets in a specific order? (on the "my pets" page)

ok I think that's it so far, whenever I have more questions I'll post them here..

1. Go to Help -> List of Genes (http://beastkeeper.com/gen-lib)

By clicking on the tabs for each species, you will see the genes specific to that species.

2. The green genes are the dominant or "expressed" genes. Breeding here is a lot like Mendelian genetics and while there is a 50-50% chance for the baby to inherit a specific gene from a pair, there are genes with more power that will be expressed unless the desirable gene is homozygous.

3. Pets are sorted by their levels with the pet with the highest level showing up first. You can sort them into groups by creating new tabs in the my pets page and moving them there.

ok thanks to number 2 and 3

and to number 1: I meant those specific genes, that include e.g. gracefulness (today I need a gryphon with gracefulness for a quest) and I found the list what genes the beasts can have, but where on my pet's page does this show up? where can I see if I have a gryphon with gracefulness?
