The new pet, (Lyokos I think?) looks pretty awesome are rare. But I missed the free egg gift, and I'm a total downright noob, so how am I supposed to get one without spending 100k coins? I don't have ANYWHERE that much, and I don't think my pets are strong enough to actually fight their way through the Tundra's upper levels.

Is the only way for me to obtain the new pet is to buy it from the auctions, or from the pound (if I'm extremely lucky)?

I know GriffinRider and GriffinZorro123 sometimes give away free pets in their pets giveaway tab. Occasionally they will have a lykos there. If you stalk their page long enough, you might get lucky and get yourself your first lykos ^.^

I also want to note that the lower levels aren't THAT bad. I have several pets capable of making it down low enough to find eggs (although I haven't been so lucky yet, sigh). I could loan or breed you a nice one if you want.
