I'm not sure why as i have brought things in item trades before but now it won't allow me to purchase anything (the buttons are light green and cannot be clicked, either bid or buyout)
any ideas why?

perhaps your warehouse is full? if there is no room left, then you will not be able to purchase items or pick them up in explore.
