Link to the old Bank suggestion thread.

On some of the other games I am on in order to help people save their money and to help protect it from possible hacks they have bank/vault systems in place. I am not saying it would have to have the PIN system like Wajas, I just think it would be cool if there were some place I could send my money to be saved and it be safe.

When your money goes into the vault you cannot touch it until you go to the vault and withdraw your money. I could see possibly letting the daily feeding charge come out of money from the vault if they don't have enough on there person(heaven knows I'd forget to leave enough out for my pets). This bank/vault would be used to store silver and gold. It could even be a new building for us to craft, or it could just be a new feature on the site. It doesn't have to accumulate intrest, it would just be a place where we can store silver and gold.

Edit:

On Wajas.com you have to have a PIN number that you create and only you know. When you go to withdraw or transfer money before you can do anything you have to enter the right PIN. The PIN is a series of 4 numbers, like 0101. The reason I did not touch too much on it is because I only know of one site that uses any kind of protection for their bank. Though, it can be very effective. It is not a headache for players on Wajas.

A site does not have to add any security features to it(like FlightRising.com has not), but I like that Wajas.com does have that and I felt I should mention it.

The profit is that your money cannot be touched unless you want it to. It makes saving money easier. It can have interest, but most sites prefer for them not to. It would be for people like myself who want to save up their money, but at the same time have a little money to spend without having to calculate how much you've earned in a certain time period. On FlightRising I put the bulk of my Treasure in the vault once a week and keep about 5,000 out for a little spending money if I want to buy one cheap pet or something. It is all about being a better way to save, whether or not they allow us to collect interest on it. I personally don't care if it does or does not gain interest, as long as I have someplace to set aside my money where it will be safe and I can't accedentally use it.

1. Could you please explain how such system may protect the currency of a hacked account? Hacker will have access to bank just like he has access to everything else on a hacked account unless it's really protected with some data that is stored in an encrypted format and can't be retrieved using the current account password, username and email. Something like separate password bound to a separate email. Looks like a real headache for players at this point.

2. What is the profit of using such building if it doesn't accumulate interest?

I edited the post to elaborate more.

Every site I've seen with a banking system does their banking system differently. BeastKeeper can choose how they want it. The main thing is that you put your money in and nothing can touch it until you go to the tab/building and take it out.

I think this is a great idea! a bank or a vault is a great way to save money! For example I my self have troubles saving up as I tend to buy once I see something I want/need and forget at the moment that I gotta save up for something alse...with a bank/vault I can send daily some money away for safekeeping without spending it at the moment...you could even add in a feature where you type in how much you want to save up and the bank wont allow you to withdraw until the given amount is saved up!

Of course a small interest rate should be there to make it more "realistic" and more appealing to other players. plus its another way to gain a little steady income as I bet many players have income issues

How does Wajas player can restore or reset his PIN if they forgot it?  Does it use the second email? If so, how do they deal with a problem that most players don't have a second email or enter it with typos? If not and it uses the same email that main account, then it doesn't provide enough defense against hacker. Usually the thing that is hacked is email, and hacker uses all the accounts that are linked to this email. I hardly can imagine someone to spend a ton of time and resources to intentionally hack a small niche game accounts like ours (no profit, it's not possible to sell them) unless it's a personal vendetta or prank, and we are protected from automated bruteforce attacks.

I'm just curios, maybe there's really a way to make a secure vault without a painful multi-step verification like the one I described? Right now I know 3 ways to verify a user: email, SMS and secret question. Any of these solutions will become a headache both for user and us when user puts in a wrong number / answer / email or forgets it. And remember that we can't easily restore or reset this part using the main email if we're concerning that it may be hacked. Most of the services that have 2-step verification don't allow to change this second part to keep it safe from hack. But we don't have age limits or something like this on registration, so I imagine dozens of times when users got lost all of their bank deposit without being hacked. Such protection seems to do more harm than use.

Its annoying, but a time-delayed pin reset is simple and works solidly. Make a really obvious alert visible on multiple pages saying the account has requested a reset that will happen on so and so date, and a cancel request button. Protects anyone who is relatively active and deters people looking for a quick getaway. And then for even more security and table-flipping, set some limit on the number of tries for the pin.

I feel like the bank isn't necessary. But if it ends up getting implemented, the final interest amount needs a max cap - I've seen a couple economies ruined because interest was set too high; rich people made more money from it than it was possible to spend in a day.

But personally I value pets way more than silver - if you're thinking of upping security, maybe also consider some sort of lock/unlock system for selling/gifting/pounding/spsb pets.

On Wajas.com if you have forgotten your PIN on the bank page there is a button that says "Reset my PIN". It emails you a new PIN. You can also change your PIN manually without having to have an email sent to you, but that requires you to know your PIN number.

I wish I could be of more help, but I only know what average users know about each site's bank. Also, some sites have the bank/vault without any safe guards. I'm not sure if that would be a pleasing possibility or not.

Aelisk that is why I said we didn't have to have interest. Most sites I know would be hurt if they offered that in their bank/vault systems.

This could help people save up for pets, items, anything they wanted to spend large amounts of silver on. To me it takes part of the hassle of saving out of it when I can go somewhere and put most of my money someplace where it can't be touched until I want it to be.

It was suggested ages ago: http://beastkeeper.com/thread/443

I do like the idea of it... but in rality. I've learned to do without. However, I do see a need for a way to at least put your money somewhere else.. for fear of accidental spending and such.

To be honest however... WIth buyout buttons in auctions I have panicked before. There have been times where I want to buy a pet, but am afraid I may hit the buyout button (especially on my phone), and let's be honest, sometimes a buyout can be ridiculously high!

Heck, even if we don't have a bank it would be very nice to have some sort of safegaurd like the "are your sure" for the pound and SPSB. Or maybe we can set a cap on the amount of money we can spend without that button....

I don't see much need for the bank now though. We gain money from many other things (townhall), so I don't see the need for interest. Just a way to either safegaurd money from accidental spending (or if there is a way to protect it in our accounts more).

It's been ages since I was on wajas, but I think the pin was reset with a question?

Just random delusional thoughts... carry on...

Nightingale the PIN may have been at one point, but it is not now. I can only ever remember having to enter in my old on or request a new one.

Thank you for giving me the link to that original thread.

We do not have to earn interest on this. We(users) make a profit from so many things as it is, why can't it be a place to just store our money so we can't accidentally spend it?

No problem, not really original, just old... :P Really old, but maybe helpful?

Haha, It's been awhile since I was there. I still remember my pins though o0. I joined around when it first started and left shortly before those spitz's came out.. Spent -way- too much time there. I actually left because my account was broken into and my things taken. They were sent to people's accounts (and even vice versa weirdly) and I was banned due to suspected multi-accounting.. It was like someone just took it over. I never had a chance to explain that several of my other game profiles were also broken into. Didn't matter much since I wasn't really active, I had no clue it even happened until much later. That was back when I had a very insecure email also, I have learned much and have a much more secure connection, email and passwords.

But it does strengthen the need for more security... On any site. As well as having those series of checks for spending/transferring money. Which is why I -love- having a log. I would like to store my money someplace however. Because it would be nice to have that separation between onhand and stored money. Because with a simple missclick I can spend lots more than I intend. I don't require interest. Just a place to separate my monies.

Security is nice, but there isn't really a way for us to be truly secure. There is always a back door. It annoys me that so many sites claim that you can only get hacked if you give away your information, because that is simply not true. We can add security features until we're blue in the face, but there is always some way that someone can get in and do something we don't want them to.

I would absolutely love to be able to make sure I don't accidentally spend money that I'm trying hard to save up.

I'm sorry to hear that happened to you.

Very true! Too many ways to get in. Which why I am mostly concerned for security from myself accidentally spending. I mostly love the bank so we can separate our money. :)

It's fine, it was ages ago and I spent wayyyy too much time there anyway. :)

Exactly. I'm trying to save up a large amount of money and having it all in one place makes it harder for me to make sure I don't spend too much or accidentally buy out something way too expensive(yes, I've done that....). I'd like to put all of it in the bank at the end of every day, except for what it takes to feed my animals, and then allow myself to only spend very little of what I earn that day.

I'm sorry for necro-ing this back, but I pm`ed Nightingale about it and she said it'd be better than creating a new topic about the... `slightly` same subject, since Angel never gave a closure to the suggestion itself.

What I'd like, thou, is a much simpler thing, like the last commenters said. Just a vault to stash the money away from my clicky fingers. No need for taxes, pins and whatnot. Just a place so I can control my spending habits.
In-game, it could be a new building called BANK, or an actual SAFE inside our Manors.

It's fine ^^ Since we never got the closure and there continues to be interest I felt it was okay to continue the discussion. :)

I also agree with Skylinne as well. I would very much like a seperate area to house my money. No need for interest. I just want it to be away from my clicky fingers. This also allows for me to psycologically/visually seperate my money if I am trying to save. Having it broken up allows me to better track my goals. Having a PIN would be a nice added security- though not entirely necessary.
