While reading how Genetic Power is calculated, I noticed another FAQ answer that said parent stats and levels had no effect on the offspring's base stats (not counting GP if it has any). While I understand that GP is designed to reward players for breeding their pets at max level, I think there should also be minor bonuses to base stats for pets bred at level 29 or 40 or whatever, instead of it being entirely random. Like taking the parent's basic stats (not including plus or minuses from genes or GP), and adding 1 point to the offspring per ten points over 50 on the parent's stat. We could then strategize with the diet system to get stats that would not only make the best individual pets, but the best breeders. For example,

P1 Agility = 62 (for a bonus of 1)

P2 Agility = 74 (for a bonus of 2)

Offspring Agility = (random: 34) + 3 = 37

and/or

P1 Strength = 89 (bonus of 3)

P2 Strength = 45 (bonus of 0)

Offspring Strength = (random: 42) + 3 = 45

So breeding pets that have had more levels to accumulate stat increases according to diet will result in offspring with slightly higher stats, whereas pushing 10 babies out of a level 1 pet wouldn't have that advantage. It shouldn't break the game, but it could help find a balance between not breeding lower-level pets to maximize the number of GP offsprings and not bothering to wait until level 50 because hey, it's only a 10 point difference over a die roll of a basic stat.

Just a thought...

Hehe, actually when I joined I thought this was the case the way it was worded originally.

I support this. Gives users even more of a reason to level pets, even if they do it slowly. Since breeding is limited I feel like I'd get more out of it if there were level 50 and so I hold off. Then I never have the time to level them anyway.

i never thought about this, but it is a really good idea! Especially since it takes a really long time to train to level 50, it will help players want to train even more. :)
