I saw a pet with a buyout option of less than 1000 in the auctions the other day. Doesn't the pound give you 1000 when you pound the pet? Is there a restriction on selling pets to the pound that you buy from auctions? It's not very nice to buy a pet just to send it to the pound, so I was wondering if there is some kind of feature in place to discourage that.

No... the person probbaly wanted the pet to go to a good home, or try to get it to one, before it went to the pound.
The only restrictions in place is that you can't sell pets for 7 days after adoption.
Although you could probably suggest this in the suggestion forums.
