So I have been trying to figure this out and talked to others who are not sure so I figured I'd finally just ask! :)

Does the pet count as first generation (parents second, grandparents third) or are they zero generation and the parents are first and so on...?

shilar, the pet itself doesn't count.

I think that does clarify... the bottom line would be the great grandparents of the proposed parents, if the child is not to be counted
