So this is pretty straightforward. Portal upgrades would lower the amount of time it takes for your portal to spawn a new island. Say something like, 6 different levels for a total of 5 possible upgrades at 10% improvement each time (6 minutes).
So, level 1 would be 60 minutes (you start the game with this).
Level 2 would be 54 minutes.
Level 3 would be 48 minutes.
Level 4 would be 42 minutes.
Level 5 would be 36 minutes.
Level 6 would be 30 minutes.
Level 6 would be a 50% reduction in total time and would be the maximum obviously since 1 island every 30 minutes would probably be fast enough to satisfy most people. I figure these upgrades could possible take Energy Flow Cards in order to complete - so it'd take like an initial investment to upgrade the Portal's maximum "energy" or something but then it'd run faster from there on out.
Anyways this is just the scale I think would work best. If the devs thought this was too much or too powerful it could always be less; like making it 5% reduction per level (3 minutes) or whatever they feel would be appropriate.
A second suggestion I would like to tack on would be the addition of more maximum capacity. So each upgrade could ALSO make it so the portal can hold more islands in memory.
It could be something small like 1 or 2 islands more max. So it'd be 20 > 22 > 24 > 26 > 28 > 30 at max. That way it wouldn't lessen the amount of time we could be away from the game AS MUCH.
Of course these options would naturally be for people that want to explore a lot so people that are happy with 1 explore per hour could simply not upgrade.
