This is a re-imagining of an older suggestion I made.

Many times I already know a pet has a specific gene, without a doubt, but still have to risk that gene being randomly researched. (I use the geneticist near-constantly, but it is an issue.)

I would love if we could somehow enter our own "educated guess" as to what specific genes are. Like when we have the geneticist, but available all the time, there could be a "guess" button for each gene we could click. It would open a drop down menu and we could select which gene we thought it was. This would stop that gene from being randomly researched.

To keep us from just guessing all the genes so we could research the ones we wanted, there could be a limit of around 6 guesses per pet we could make.
And to avoid confusion, our guessed genes would always be their own color, maybe light blue, so we would know it was a player guess.
Guesses could also be wrong.

Instead of vermillion, we would only require cuttlefish ink to write it down. Guesses could be erased with soapshroom so they could be researched properly if we ever found we were wrong or wanted to be sure.

I like that, and it gives uses to two items that we have an abundance of.

I like that idea, especially its use of two over-abundant items, and I do get frustrated when I research, say, a pet's dominant coloring instead of actually useful information. Support.

Support! If both parents have the same gene, dominant and ressesive, I'd like to be able to research the harder-to-guess ones first.

I call Vermillion "Vermi"

I occasionally use an IPad- please excuse spellcheck.

Thanks for suggestion. It encourages at least a bit of planning and calculation, and this is really good and matches the game guidelines which we want to adhere. Probably we can add some more sense to Laboratory building and possibility to confirm or disprove the guessed genes with levelling. Though it will require some noticeable amount of coding so I can't promise that it will be introduced very soon.
